Job Description
WOLFoods, Inc. is a pioneer in redefining summer camp dining experiences across the United States with a fresh and innovative approach to food service. Unlike typical camp kitchens that rely heavily on freezer-to-table meals, WOLFoods prides itself on delivering home-style, scratch-cooked cuisine that not only satisfies but educates campers and staff about the value of balanced diets and sustainable, green initiatives. Operating seasonally from May through September, WOLFoods partners with camps dedicated to providing healthy, fresh, and delicious foods to children and staff. Its diverse and culturally rich menu supports campers in exploring new cuisines while enjoying their favorites, supported by the expertise of professional bakers and chefs stationed on-site. The company fosters an environment where every camper’s dietary needs, including special diets such as Kosher, Nut Free, Gluten Free, and Vegan options, are met with utmost care by trained culinary professionals.
The role of Baker/Pastry Chef at WOLFoods is a hands-on, demanding, and highly rewarding position essential to the success of the camp’s food service program. This position requires the ability to flawlessly implement and maintain WOLFoods' high standards in service and culinary execution within a fast-paced environment. The Baker/Pastry Chef is responsible for managing all aspects of bakery operations including preparing and baking all menu and special event items from scratch, maintaining inventory levels, supervising bakery staff, and ensuring food quality, quantity, and timely service during all meal periods. Candidates must demonstrate leadership, initiative, and self-reliance while working collaboratively with camp staff including children, exchange students, directors, managers, counselors, and dining hall personnel.
Living on-site is a requirement, with room, board, and travel assistance provided to support staff during the summer season. The job demands physical endurance to work long hours—typically a minimum 70-hour work week across six days—and the ability to operate in varying temperature environments. Bakers/Pastry Chefs must also hold a ServSafe Allergens Certification (company sponsored) and be confident in managing health and sanitation standards rigorously. This position offers a unique opportunity to grow professionally in a team-oriented, educational setting that emphasizes high-volume production and quality-driven food service. Seasonal contracts include competitive salary and a bonus system, along with comprehensive support such as transportation assistance and rustic but comfortable living accommodations.
Joining WOLFoods means becoming part of a passionate community dedicated to elevating the summer camp dining experience through skilled culinary craftsmanship and innovative food programs. Bakers/Pastry Chefs at WOLFoods enjoy the challenge of high-volume kitchen operations while contributing to memorable dining experiences that leave a lasting positive impression on campers and staff alike. This role is ideal for culinary professionals seeking seasonal summer employment who thrive in intensive, team-driven environments and are eager to embrace both leadership and continuous learning opportunities. If you value quality, are motivated by a fast-paced and collaborative workplace, and are ready to relocate to a rural camp setting, WOLFoods offers a rewarding career path with meaningful impacts on healthy food education and camp culture.
