Job Description
WOLFoods, Inc. is a leading provider of high-quality food services for summer camp kitchens across the United States between May and September. Unlike traditional camp food providers that often rely on pre-packaged or freezer-to-table meals, WOLFoods has revolutionized camp dining by introducing home-style scratch cooking. This approach aims to transform the typical camp meal experience into what they proudly refer to as 'Camp Cuisine.' By partnering with camps committed to offering healthy, fresh, and delicious foods, WOLFoods elevates the dining experience for campers, staff, and visitors alike.
WOLFoods not only values providing nutritious and tasty meals but also emphasizes the importance of educating campers on balanced diets and sustainability practices. Their summer camp kitchens and dining halls double as classrooms where young minds learn about green initiatives and the cultural significance of diverse cuisines. Their extensive menus are designed to cater to a wide variety of tastes and dietary needs, ensuring every camper enjoys personalized attention. From freshly baked items churned out daily by professional bakers in camp bakeries to vibrant fruit, yogurt, and salad bars, WOLFoods delivers a memorable dining service that respects nutritional needs and special dietary restrictions including kosher, nut-free, gluten-free, and vegan options.
WOLFoods is seeking experienced, motivated, and skilled Bakers/Pastry Chefs to join their dynamic summer camp culinary teams nationwide. This seasonal, hands-on position demands a high degree of culinary expertise, leadership, and self-reliance. Candidates will be instrumental in executing the WOLFoods Camp Food Service Program flawlessly. They will be responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining culinary operations that meet and exceed WOLFoods' standards of service and quality.
The role of Baker/Pastry Chef is not only about producing high-quality baked goods but also requires the ability to lead and train supporting kitchen staff efficiently. Because all culinary staff live on site, typically in a rural setting with shared accommodations, applicants should be prepared for a unique community-focused professional experience. Room, board, and travel assistance are provided, offering a comprehensive employment package designed to support the team during the demanding summer period.
This position demands the ability to work long hours in a fast-paced, sometimes physically challenging environment—standing for extended periods, lifting heavy supplies, and operating in temperatures that vary seasonally. Bakers/Pastry Chefs must have a keen sense of timing and portion control, an eye for quality, and a commitment to food safety standards. They must also be outstanding communicators capable of interacting professionally with children, staff, management, and other stakeholders.
WOLFoods values individuals who thrive in a teaching and learning culture, embrace teamwork, and are excited by the challenge of a high-volume commercial kitchen. Ideal candidates are those seeking seasonal summer opportunities who enjoy working in a community setting and are committed to the art and science of baking from scratch. The experience includes specialized decorating, recipe development, inventory management, and ensuring compliance with all health department sanitation and safety regulations.
Joining the WOLFoods team means becoming part of a mission-driven company that is passionate about transforming how camp food is perceived and experienced. With a focus on quality, health, and culinary excellence, WOLFoods offers not just a job but a unique opportunity to grow professionally in a supportive and resource-rich environment. For dedicated culinary professionals, this role presents the chance to impact the summer camp experience and contribute to a healthier and more enjoyable lifestyle for campers from across the country.
