Job Description
FedEx Freight, Inc. is a leading company in the freight transportation industry, renowned for its commitment to efficient and reliable freight delivery services. As part of the globally recognized FedEx network, FedEx Freight specializes in less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services, ensuring timely and safe delivery of goods across various regions in the United States. With a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, safety, and innovation, FedEx Freight continually invests in its people, technology, and infrastructure to maintain its position as a top-tier freight logistics provider.
FedEx Freight operates a vast fleet of commercial vehicles and employs a dedicated workforce of drivers, logistics professionals, and support staff. The company upholds a culture of inclusivity and equal opportunity, providing a comprehensive benefits package and fostering an environment where employees can grow professionally while contributing meaningfully to the company’s mission.
This position offers an hourly starting pay rate of $31.26, reflecting the value FedEx Freight places on skilled and committed individuals. This is a full-time opportunity within a dynamic, fast-paced industry where your role directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational efficiency.
The Tractor-Trailer Driver role at FedEx Freight involves the crucial responsibility of picking up and delivering freight between service centers and customers, while actively supporting the sales process by soliciting additional business and providing leads to the sales team. Drivers operate a range of vehicles including tractor-trailer combinations such as doubles and triples, where applicable, as well as straight trucks.
Key responsibilities include performing thorough pre-trip and safety inspections on equipment to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. Drivers are also required to securely handle freight using motorized and manual equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks. Securing freight correctly inside trailers using various tools is essential to prevent damage during transit.
The driver must maintain accurate and complete documentation and reports related to the freight and comply fully with hazardous material regulations and federal transportation laws. Effective communication with dispatch and customers is critical for coordinating pickups, deliveries, and resolving any issues encountered on the route.
Additionally, drivers may be required to perform other operational duties as needed, including chaining tires or assisting dock employees. The position demands physical stamina for lifting freight up to 100 pounds regularly and the ability to sit for extended periods, engaging in vehicle operation and freight handling.
FedEx Freight provides a supportive work environment with clear expectations for compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and procedures. The company’s emphasis on safety, professionalism, and service excellence makes this role ideal for candidates seeking a rewarding career in the freight logistics industry that offers competitive wages and opportunities for advancement.
