Wakonda Club, established in 1922, is a private, member-owned golf and country club situated in Des Moines, Iowa. Over its century-long history, the club has become a cornerstone of the local community, offering a blend of recreational, social, and dining experiences.

Golf Course

The centerpiece of Wakonda Club is its 18-hole golf course, originally designed by William Langford. In 2023, the club embarked on an extensive $8 million renovation to restore the course to its original design.

This project, led by golf architect Tyler Rae, included the addition of new bunkers, expanded fairways, and the installation of a state-of-the-art irrigation system. The course reopened in May 2024, just in time for the Principal Charity Classic, an annual PGA Tour Champions event hosted at Wakonda since 2013.

Tennis and Aquatics

Beyond golf, Wakonda Club offers exceptional tennis facilities, featuring meticulously maintained clay courts and two omni courts. Members of all ages and skill levels can participate in open play, clinics, leagues, and instruction, with pickleball also available.

The club's aquatics area boasts three pools, complemented by a Tiki Bar and Snack Bar, creating a vibrant environment for relaxation and socialization.

• The Terrace Grill offers a modern bistro setting with an open kitchen, warm fireplace, and views of the golf course and downtown Des Moines.
• The Oak View Bar provides a relaxed atmosphere overlooking the 18th green, serving a selection of craft beers and seasonal cocktails.
• The Wine Cellar accommodates up to 10 guests, offering a private dining experience surrounded by an extensive wine collection.
• Langford's, named after the course designer, serves as a golfer's lounge with sandwiches, appetizers, and a full bar.
• The Pool Snack Bar and Tiki Bar cater to poolside guests with a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and kid-friendly snacks.

Clubhouse and Event Spaces

The clubhouse serves as the hub for social activities, featuring newly renovated event spaces with more than a dozen indoor private room combinations to accommodate both professional and personal events.
