Pioneers is a global Christian missions organization dedicated to reaching the world's unreached people groups—those who have never had the opportunity to hear the gospel in a way they can understand.
Founded in 1979 by Ted Fletcher, Pioneers has grown to include over 3,000 members from diverse professions, including business, education, healthcare, and the arts.
These members serve on more than 400 teams across 101 countries, engaging with 441 distinct people groups.
Mission and Approach
The organization's mission is to initiate church-planting movements among unreached peoples, partnering with local churches to make disciples and establish self-sustaining communities of believers.
Pioneers' approach is innovative and culturally sensitive, with missionaries immersing themselves in local cultures, learning new languages, and building relationships to share the gospel in contextually appropriate ways.
Opportunities for Involvement
- Long-Term Service: Join a team for a year or more, contributing unique skills to church-planting efforts among the least-reached people groups.
- Venture: Spend up to a year with an international team, mentored by experienced missionaries to gain firsthand missions experience.
- Edge: Participate in 8–12-week trips working alongside Pioneers teams, engaging in missions and sharing the name of Jesus.
Support from the Global Church
Beyond sending missionaries, Pioneers emphasizes the importance of support from the global church through prayer, financial support, and raising awareness to further the mission of reaching the unreached.
