The Culinary Academy of Las Vegas (CALV) is a nationally recognized nonprofit hospitality training institute dedicated to preparing individuals for successful careers in the Las Vegas hospitality industry. Established in 1993, CALV has trained over 65,000 workers through high-quality programs that facilitate entry into the hospitality sector and enhance career advancement opportunities.

CALV offers a comprehensive range of vocational training programs, including:

• Housekeeping: Training for Guest Room Attendants and House Persons/Utility Porters.
• Food & Beverage: Courses for Bus Persons, Food Servers, Fountain Workers/Baristas, Bar Porters, Bar Apprentices, and Wine Servers.
• Kitchen: Programs for Stewards, Baker’s Helpers, and Professional Cooks.
• Digital & Employability Skills: Basic Digital Literacy and Employability courses.
• Language Instruction: English as a Second Language (ESL) and Vocational English classes.
• Professional Cook Apprenticeship: A comprehensive 2,000-hour apprenticeship program.

These programs are licensed by the Nevada Commission on Postsecondary Education. Graduates receive certificates recognized by employers as equivalent to one year of work experience.

In addition to vocational training, CALV provides supportive services to ensure student success both in and out of the classroom. This includes assistance with job placement, career planning, and access to community resources.

The academy also offers English as a Second Language (ESL) courses designed to help students build the language skills needed for success in the hospitality industry.

CALV's facilities include a professional kitchen, event center, full-service restaurant, and mock hotel suites. These provide students with hands-on experience that translates directly to the job market.

The academy collaborates with industry experts and labor partners to develop and update training programs, ensuring they meet the evolving needs of the hospitality industry.
