Baystate Health is a comprehensive, not-for-profit integrated healthcare system headquartered in Springfield, Massachusetts. It serves over 800,000 residents across western Massachusetts and parts of Connecticut.

Hospitals and Facilities

The system comprises four acute-care hospitals, including Baystate Medical Center, the region's only Level 1 trauma center. It also includes Baystate Children's Hospital, the area's only accredited full-service children's hospital.

Medical Practices and Services

Baystate Health encompasses a network of over 80 medical practices, providing primary and specialty care across the region.

Baystate Medical Practices, a multi-specialty group, includes nearly 1,000 physicians and advanced practitioners. They deliver care at more than 60 locations throughout the Pioneer Valley.

The system also provides:

• Home care and hospice services
• Comprehensive regional laboratory and diagnostic services
• Health New England, a health insurance provider covering parts of Massachusetts, Connecticut, New York, Vermont, and New Hampshire

Behavioral Health Services

Baystate Health is restructuring its behavioral health services. It plans to move certain psychiatric units to the new Valley Springs Behavioral Health Hospital in Holyoke, opening in August 2024.

This relocation will centralize and enhance behavioral health services in the region.
