Job Description
Zingerman's Roadshow is a unique and vibrant destination operating from a vintage Spartan trailer attached to the front of Zingerman's Roadhouse, a well-known establishment celebrated for its high-quality American food and exceptional service. The Roadshow offers a convenient drive-through experience for customers, opening early in the morning to provide coffee and breakfast options to people on their way to work. Throughout the day, it serves flavorful sandwiches and quick lunch ideas to those stopping by during breaks, and it remains open until the Roadhouse closes so guests can pick up dinner without leaving the comfort of their cars. The Roadshow embodies Zingerman's commitment to excellent food, community, and customer experience, making it a beloved spot for both regular visitors and newcomers.
The Roadshow Manager plays a crucial role in overseeing every aspect of the guest and staff experience, ensuring a seamless operation that aligns with Zingerman's standards and values. This full-time, salaried position requires dedication and flexibility, as the manager is expected to work approximately 50 hours per week, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. The salary ranges between $55,000 and $65,000, negotiable based on experience. The manager reports directly to the Managing Partner and is responsible for a wide range of duties including staff hiring, training, scheduling, sales goal achievement, cash handling oversight, product preparation, environment management, guest relations, inventory control, and maintaining the overall cleanliness and atmosphere of the Roadshow area.
Leadership is a key component of this role, as the manager leads the team following Zingerman's principles of Servant Leadership, Stewardship, and entrepreneurial spirit. The role requires a hands-on approach where the manager is prepared to assist service teams, mediate conflicts, and provide ongoing training. Additionally, the manager must maintain excellent communication and positive working relationships with the broader Roadhouse team, including restaurant managers, chefs, and other back and front-of-house staff.
Success in this role involves a strong background in restaurant experience, particularly in supervisory or management positions within high-volume, high-quality service environments. A knowledge and appreciation of coffee beverages and American cuisine are important, along with the ability to inspire teamwork, drive results, and foster great relationships with customers and colleagues alike. The ability to design and continuously improve operational systems and procedures is also essential. Furthermore, the ideal candidate is self-directed, able to work independently while still being an integral part of the management team.
Personal traits that contribute to success include an outgoing personality, excellent communication skills, passion for great food and service, strong organizational abilities, comfort with decision-making and problem-solving, and a commitment to ongoing learning about food, business, and people. Physical demands of the job include bending, stooping, walking, standing for long periods, handling weights up to 50 pounds, and moving up and down stairs regularly.
Overall, the Roadshow Manager role is a dynamic and rewarding opportunity for a motivated individual who thrives in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment and who shares Zingerman's dedication to quality, community, and exceptional hospitality.
