The company values every employee bringing their unique personality and skills to their role, contributing to a fun and productive environment. Zingerman's Bakehouse has earned a stellar reputation not only for the exceptional quality of its naturally leavened breads but also for fostering a workplace where employees can grow professionally and personally.
This is a full-time bread baker position offering a starting pay of $16 per hour, with the possibility of negotiation based on experience. Available shifts typically run from 12 pm to 8 pm or 12:30 pm to 8:30 pm, with special full availability required during the busy holiday months of November and December. Working at Zingerman's Bakehouse means joining an enthusiastic and dedicated team that works together closely to produce exceptional baked goods. The role involves active physical work, which can also contribute to a healthy lifestyle.
As a bread baker at Zingerman's Bakehouse, you will have the chance to develop your baking skills through hands-on experience and structured learning opportunities including free BAKE! classes. Whether you are a seasoned baker or new to sourdough and artisanal baking, this position offers a valuable "bread-ucation." You will be exposed to the entire bread-making process from mixing dough, shaping, proofing, and baking with freshly milled flour and natural leavens.
The bakery emphasizes team-oriented decision-making where there is no hierarchy of "They," only "Us." Managers work alongside bakers, and the business is deeply rooted in principles that support employee growth and success. The workplace encourages creativity, offering opportunities to impact product development and bakery operations directly. Employees benefit from a comprehensive package of perks such as health insurance contributions, 401k matching, paid training, paid breaks, and time off, alongside generous discounts on bakery products and other Zingerman's businesses.
The position demands physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. You will be responsible not only for baking but also for maintaining a clean and sanitary workspace, ensuring safety around equipment, and actively participating in team meetings. Overall, working at Zingerman's Bakehouse provides more than just a job; it offers a supportive community and the chance to grow within a successful and respected business.
