Job Description

Rising Star Preschool is a mission-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to serving communities throughout San Diego, CA. The organization focuses on creating lasting, positive change for children from birth to five years old and their families by providing safe and enriching early learning experiences. Along with childcare services, Rising Star Preschool supports families through access to social services, mental health resources, and professional training in early childhood education. This holistic approach ensures that children receive a nurturing start while families are empowered through various supports and resources.

The culture at Rising Star Preschool is people-centered and empowering. Team members are not only supported and heard but also encouraged to develop their strengths. Professional growth is a cornerstone of the organization, with ongoing training opportunities that help staff build credentials and expand their career options. The environment is designed to be a place where work has purpose, growth is supported, and contributions truly matter.

Currently, Rising Star Preschool is seeking a part-time Youth Event Assistant who will play a key role in elevating family nights, celebrations, fundraisers, and holiday events with polish and heart. The position offers a flexible schedule Monday through Friday with hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, making it suitable for candidates looking for a part-time role. Compensation is competitive at $25 per hour, and additional benefits include education assistance, an Employee Assistance Program (EAP), paid time off (PTO), and a flexible schedule.

The Youth Event Assistant will be responsible for designing and coordinating memorable events that bring the preschool community together beautifully and safely. This involves reviewing the events calendar, refining timelines, confirming vendors, finalizing supply lists, and coordinating volunteer roles to ensure smooth execution. The assistant also drafts concise event communications, sets up sign-ups, and ensures all activities comply with health, safety, and licensing standards. On event days, the assistant is the visible presence guiding set-up, welcoming partners, and keeping the schedule on track with a calm and friendly demeanor. Post-event duties include tracking participation, summarizing key outcomes, and identifying lessons learned to improve future celebrations. This role requires a person who is organized, collaborative, and passionate about creating engaging and safe experiences for children and families.

Joining Rising Star Preschool means becoming part of a team committed to making preschool events meaningful, safe, and unforgettable while contributing to a larger mission of community support and early childhood development. This role is ideal for someone with experience in event planning, community engagement, or school-based coordination, especially if they have a background working with families and young children or in nonprofit or educational settings.
