This organization focuses on empowering youth to develop essential life skills, build self-confidence, and become responsible, caring citizens. With a rich history rooted in community support and development, the Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos offers a wide array of programs that cater to the diverse needs of youth, promoting personal growth and positive impacts within the community. The club embraces a culture that values leadership, teamwork, and continuous learning.
We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Youth Development Professional to join our team. This part-time position offers an hourly wage of $17.50, with eligibility for salary increases at 6-month and 1-year milestones. Reporting directly to the Site Director, the Youth Development Professional plays a vital role in mentoring and actively engaging youth members through structured activities that foster their development in multiple domains. The professional will be responsible for directing and implementing both National Boys & Girls Club Programs and Local Initiative Activities, ensuring each program is delivered in an inclusive, respectful, and safe environment.
The role requires a strong commitment to youth development, including the ability to inspire active participation, empower members through positive role modeling, and provide recognition through various incentive systems. The successful candidate will facilitate sessions focusing on areas such as Character & Leadership, Education & Career Development, Health & Life Skills, The Arts, and Sports, Fitness & Recreation. This position fosters a team-building mentality and encourages collaboration among staff and youth alike.
In addition to program facilitation, the Youth Development Professional must maintain open and effective communication channels with staff, youth members, parents, and other community partners. This includes sharing relevant information in meetings, actively listening to feedback, presenting program outcomes, and maintaining accurate written reports. A critical part of this role is ensuring the health and safety of all youth participants through vigilant supervision, enforcing appropriate discipline when necessary, and adhering to emergency preparedness protocols such as CPR and First Aid.
Candidates should be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or GED, with additional requirements adhering to standards set by the San Marcos Unified School District. Experience working with youth-serving organizations and knowledge of youth development principles is preferred. Physical ability to stand for extended periods, perform manual tasks, and maintain high energy levels during program activities is essential.
This position offers a flexible schedule ranging from 15 to 25 hours per week, depending on enrollment. It presents a unique opportunity for individuals passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people while working in a supportive and dynamic environment. The Boys & Girls Club of San Marcos is committed to fostering professional growth and offers access to ongoing staff training and development to enhance skills and program effectiveness.
