Job Description
Young Life is a well-established Christian nonprofit organization dedicated to reaching out to adolescents and young adults through evangelism and discipleship. With its roots deeply embedded in Christian principles, Young Life operates across various regions to minister to youth through comprehensive programs focused on spiritual growth, leadership development, and fostering community relationships. It is committed to creating environments where young people can explore faith, build lasting relationships, and receive support during important life transitions. The organization values employees who share its mission and faith, requiring all staff members to sign a Statement of Faith to align with its spiritual objectives.
The YoungLives Coordinator role at Young Life is an integral position designed to develop and sustain the YoungLives ministry, which specifically supports pregnant and parenting teen moms. This role demands a passionate commitment to the Christian mission of evangelism and discipleship while working collaboratively with volunteers, mentors, and community partners to build impactful ministry strategies. The role offers weekly working hours ranging between 10 to 20 and an anticipated hourly wage of $18 to $20, with adjustments based on education, experience, and geographic location. The position is also eligible for a Cost of Living Adjustment, reflecting Young Life’s dedication to fair compensation practices.
This role is unique in its focus on holistic ministry that combines spiritual development, leadership cultivation, resource development, and direct ministry activities including contact work, clubs, campaigns, and camp involvement. The YoungLives Coordinator builds and leads teams of volunteers and provides key support to enhance the ministry’s reach and effectiveness. Spiritual leadership is a core aspect, with responsibilities including personal spiritual growth planning, fostering church relationships, and guiding others in their faith journeys. Strong communication and relational skills are essential, as the role involves regular interactions with mentors, childcare volunteers, and community stakeholders such as principals, pastors, and parents.
Additionally, the YoungLives Coordinator plays a critical role in resource development by raising financial support, maintaining donor relations, and organizing fundraising events. The position requires adeptness in stewardship, accountability, and transparency concerning financial matters and data management related to ministry participants and donors. Training and continued education are emphasized, with candidates expected to have completed at least two years as a Staff Associate and to engage in ongoing Young Life and YoungLives-specific trainings. A college degree is preferred, underscoring the value Young Life places on educational advancement.
Those selected for the YoungLives Coordinator role must embody Young Life’s core values through their conduct, professionalism, and faith commitment. The position involves both short- and long-term assignments as aligned with ministry needs and personal gifts. Being self-motivated, goal-oriented, and an effective leader are critical traits for success in this role. Travel may also be necessary to meet ministry objectives. Overall, this position offers an enriching opportunity for individuals committed to making a profound impact in the lives of teen moms through Christ-centered support, mentorship, and strategic ministry development within a supportive and faith-driven community.
