Job Description

York Automotive Group is a reputable and growing dealership group dedicated to providing exceptional automotive sales and service experiences. York Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM of Plainfield represents one of the key establishments within this group, offering a wide selection of new and used vehicles along with comprehensive service and support. The organization values integrity, customer satisfaction, and employee growth, fostering a collaborative and dynamic work environment where team members can thrive. As a part of the York Automotive Group, the Plainfield location continues to expand its operations and enhance its inventory to meet the high demands of the local market. This expansion includes strengthening their team with skilled professionals committed to excellence and customer-focused results.

We are currently seeking a motivated and customer-focused Vehicle Acquisition Specialist to join the Used Vehicle Sales / Inventory Acquisition / Service Department at York Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, RAM of Plainfield. Reporting directly to the General Manager, this is a full-time position that plays a critical role in the dealership’s success by ensuring a steady supply of high-quality used vehicles. This position combines proactive customer engagement with strategic inventory acquisition, making it vital for maintaining a competitive edge in the used vehicle market.

In this role, you will leverage your communication and negotiation skills to engage customers who visit the service drive—averaging 30+ vehicles daily—and pursue acquisition opportunities through appraisals and trade-ins. You will be expected to appraise vehicles accurately using industry-standard tools such as Kelley Blue Book, Black Book, and Manheim as well as hands-on vehicle inspections. The role further involves equity mining, which means reaching out to previous customers regularly by phone, email, text, and CRM platforms to identify equity and present compelling buyback or trade-in offers. A key target is to engage 20-25 vehicles daily at the service drive and successfully convert 8-15 percent of this traffic into acquisitions.

As a Vehicle Acquisition Specialist, your duties extend beyond sourcing to building and sustaining strong relationships with service customers and past owners, collaborating closely with the service department, sales team, and finance and insurance offices to streamline the acquisition-to-retail pipeline, and ensuring compliance with dealership policies and regulations. This role requires a results-driven professional with a strong work ethic, integrity, and excellent organizational and reporting skills.

Offering a competitive compensation package combining a base salary with performance-based incentives, this position provides a significant earning potential estimated between $50,000 and $120,000+ annually. Beyond financial rewards, York Automotive Group supports its employees with comprehensive benefits, ongoing industry training, and opportunities for career growth within an expanding dealership. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about automotive sales and inventory management to make a tangible impact in a fast-paced and collaborative environment.
