Young Life is committed to cultivating youth development through vibrant spiritual activities and leadership training within communities, particularly in regions such as downtown Puyallup and local junior high schools like PHS, Aylen, and Kalles. As a Christian ministry, Young Life emphasizes personal spiritual growth, community involvement, and effective ministry practices to impact youth consistently and positively.
The role of YL Staff Associate I is designed as an entry-level staff position that provides formal training and hands-on ministry experience. This role will engage in key ministry functions including spiritual development, leadership development, resource management, direct ministry, and administrative support. Staff associates learn to lead and inspire both youth and volunteers by participating in and managing outreach programs like club meetings, Campaigners discipleship groups, and summer camps. Responsibilities include spiritual growth planning, volunteer recruitment and training, donor relations, and event coordination.
Young Life staff associates are expected to demonstrate strong personal faith and an ongoing commitment to their spiritual journey, reflecting this both in their ministry involvement and personal discipline. The associate will work closely with an area director and other Young Life leaders to develop ministry strategies tailored to their local communities. Training will include core programs like New Staff Training, Leadership I and II, and specialized courses to enhance ministry effectiveness. The role additionally provides opportunities for summer employment at Young Life camps, offering a unique camp experience that demands physical endurance and a willingness to serve under various outdoor conditions.
This full-time position requires dedicated individuals who are eager to grow spiritually and professionally within a Christian framework. Young Life encourages staff members to lead by example, showing excellence in working with kids and adults, developing leadership teams, managing finances responsibly, and communicating effectively with all ministry stakeholders. Overall, the YL Staff Associate I plays a crucial role in advancing Young Life's mission to reach every kid with the gospel through relational ministry and community engagement.
