Job Description
Young Life is a prominent Christian organization dedicated to evangelism and discipleship, focusing on ministry to adolescents and young adults. With over 70 years of experience, Young Life operates as a nonprofit organization committed to proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ and fostering spiritual growth within communities. The organization's mission involves creating opportunities for young people to engage with faith through various programs including clubs, camps, and community-based activities. The environment at Young Life emphasizes spiritual development, relational ministry, and leadership growth, supporting their staff to carry out these goals with dedication and passion.
Young Life seeks individuals who are not only professionally qualified but also share a commitment to the organization's Christian Statements of Faith. Every employee and volunteer acts as a minister of the gospel and contributes actively to the spiritual mission of the corporation. Staff members are expected to maintain a lifestyle that aligns with biblical standards and support Young Life's objectives during working and nonworking hours. Employment with Young Life offers a unique blend of ministry, leadership, and community engagement with a clear focus on faith-centered service.
The role of Staff Associate I at Young Life is designed for those beginning their journey of ministry through both structured training and hands-on experience in the field. This position immerses new staff members in learning how to execute and manage ministry effectively while developing their spiritual life, leadership abilities, and organizational skills. Throughout the role, individuals engage deeply with Young Life's core functions, such as spiritual development, leadership development, resource management, direct ministry, and administrative support.
Staff Associates learn to develop a personal spiritual growth plan, participate actively in a church community, and lead others in spiritual development. Leadership growth includes recruiting, training, and managing volunteer leaders while fostering a team that reflects the local community's diversity. Resource development responsibilities include fundraising, donor communication, and public relations to ensure ministry sustainability. The direct ministry component emphasizes engaging with youth at clubs, Campaigners programs, and camps, while ministry support activities address administration, finance, and communication.
Training is a critical component of the Staff Associate I experience, encompassing core training sessions on leadership, apologetics, and ministry skills to promote spiritual maturity and professional competence. The job also involves working under the mentorship of regional directors or trainers to enhance ministry effectiveness. Young Life highly values practical experience alongside formal education, and while a college degree is preferred, this role focuses heavily on ministry-related skills and a heart for service. This position requires a flexible and resilient individual able to handle a range of environmental conditions, including outdoor activities and camp settings.
In summary, Young Life's Staff Associate I position offers a comprehensive entry point for those passionate about Christian ministry and youth engagement. The role provides a rich blend of spiritual, leadership, and practical learning experiences within a supportive faith-based organization. Staff Associates are integral to advancing Young Life's mission and enjoy both personal and professional growth opportunities in a vibrant ministry environment.
