The current opening is for Full-time Class A Yard Drivers at the Minneapolis, MN location. This role offers an excellent pay rate of $30 per hour plus overtime after 40 hours, complemented by a $10,000 retention bonus. Additionally, the position features a 5-day workweek (Monday through Friday) with weekends off and a 5 AM dispatch time. Drivers can expect to stay local with daily home time, an important benefit for work-life balance. This role involves operating late-model Penske trucks leased from Penske Truck Leasing, equipped with features designed for comfort and safety, such as inward and outward facing in-cab cameras to promote safety for drivers and freight. As a Yard Driver, your primary responsibilities include moving trailers in and out of docks as directed, coupling and uncoupling trailers, and chocking trailers for loading and unloading. You will be operating in a controlled and professional environment ensuring efficiency and safety.

Job Requirements

  • Valid Class A CDL
  • U.S. residency and current state license
  • Non-excepted interstate DOT medical card
  • Minimum of 1 year tractor-trailer experience within last 3 years or 2 years within last 5 years
  • Clean DMV/MVR with no more than two moving violations or accidents in 3 years
  • Compliance with federal and state laws and company policies
  • Regular work attendance
  • English proficiency
  • Complete employment application and pass background check and drug screening
  • Ability to work in safety-sensitive role
  • Physical ability to operate vehicle and handle cargo
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs regularly and up to 100lbs occasionally

Job Qualifications

  • Valid Class A CDL required
  • Applicants must be domiciled in the U.S. and licensed in their state of residence
  • Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a non-excepted interstate DOT medical card
  • 1 year of documented tractor-trailer experience in the last 3 years or 2 years in the last 5 years
  • Three years DMV/MVR record with two or fewer moving violations or accidents
  • Follow all federal and state laws, regulations, and agency standards
  • Regular, predictable, full attendance is essential
  • English language proficiency
  • Able to work in a safe manner and constant alertness

Job Duties

  • Move trailers in and out of dock as directed by management
  • Couple and uncouple trailers
  • Chock trailers as they are spotted for loading and unloading and pulling from doors
  • Operate late-model Penske trucks equipped with safety features
  • Follow all federal and state laws and company guidelines
  • Work a Monday through Friday schedule with a 5 AM dispatch
  • Maintain safety and efficiency in yard operations
