The role of Porter / Yard Worker at Sunbelt Rentals is essential to the smooth operation of the rental process. The Yard Associate is responsible for the stationing and retrieving of equipment within the yard, maintaining the equipment in line with company standards, and ensuring all tools and machinery meet manufacturer specifications before they are rented out. This role requires a hands-on approach to both the physical handling of the equipment and the administrative upkeep, such as maintaining written maintenance logs and performing necessary service tasks on the equipment.

In addition to equipment handling, the Yard Associate inspects gear prior to rental and upon its return to document any lost or damaged items, ensuring accountability and maintaining the integrity of the rental fleet. This position demands a combination of mechanical aptitude, basic math skills, and effective communication abilities to interact with customers and team members smoothly. Physical demands include lifting heavy loads, bending, crouching, and working in various weather conditions, reflecting the active and dynamic nature of this job.

Sunbelt Rentals looks for candidates who ideally possess a high school diploma or GED and who have some experience or training in handling construction and industrial tools and mechanical equipment repair. The position offers a base pay range of $17.75 to $22.55 per hour, with the rate varying based on location, education, training, and experience.
