Job Requirements

  • High school or equivalent education
  • five to seven years in a major hotel, hospital, or building environment including supervisory experience
  • ability to obtain and maintain government licenses such as a first class operating engineer's license
  • proficiency in primary workplace language
  • basic computational ability
  • competency with Microsoft Office and HotSOS maintenance program
  • knowledge of accounting and budgetary analysis
  • understanding of building codes and construction
  • strong communication skills
  • ability to work as a team leader with minimal supervision

Job Qualifications

  • High school or equivalent education
  • bachelor’s degree or related technical school degree preferred
  • five to seven years of experience in a major hotel, hospital, or building maintenance environment including four years in a supervisory role
  • ability to obtain and maintain required government licenses, including a first class operating engineer's license
  • strong verbal and written communication skills in the workplace's primary language
  • proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and maintenance management software
  • knowledge of mechanical equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, and building codes
  • budgeting and accounting skills
  • familiarity with AAA and Forbes service standards
  • leadership and team management experience
  • ability to read and write to facilitate communication

Job Duties

  • Conduct walk-throughs and visually assess the safe and efficient maintenance and operation of the hotel's physical structures and mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems
  • Verify completion of routine maintenance and repairs across all hotel guest areas, recreational facilities, and commercial spaces
  • Assist in hiring, training, supervising, and disciplining engineering department and related staff
  • Adhere to corporate purchasing policies including management of contractor bids, budgets, and schedules
  • Maintain effective energy management and preventive maintenance programs and conduct training on safe and efficient equipment use
  • Inform general management and department heads regularly on building conditions and propose cost-effective maintenance solutions
  • Review and ensure accuracy of HOA/CDD billings and that maintenance work on non-resort assets is properly billed
  • Supervise maintenance and repairs hotel-wide
  • Prepare technical data, bidding documents, and manage alteration and repair projects ensuring compliance with building codes
  • Train staff in fire prevention, environmental health, safety, and engineering systems
  • Oversee payroll, manpower scheduling, and water treatment programs
  • Participate actively in hotel operations meetings and represent the hotel in community and industry events
  • Provide feedback and act as a role model and leader across departments
  • Support team collaboration and uphold AAA and Forbes service standards
