The university is currently seeking candidates for a temporary (fixed term) clerical position within the Student Affairs department. This role, titled Work-Study/Office Assistant, is an ideal opportunity for students who have a Work-Study Award and are looking to gain valuable office experience while managing their academics. The Work-Study/Office Assistant will serve in various capacities as designated by the department's hiring manager. This includes critical customer service functions, such as answering phones, greeting visitors, and supporting students and guests. In addition to providing exceptional customer support, the assistant will also engage in clerical tasks like data entry, electronic imaging, and filing, ensuring the smooth operation of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs office.
This part-time position allows students to work a maximum of 20 hours per week, making it flexible enough to accommodate class schedules. The assistant will be the first point of contact for visitors and students, a role that requires good communication and telephone skills, proficiency in MS Word and Google Suite, and the ability to effectively communicate both in person and in writing. The position is governed by state and federal laws as well as institutional policies, ensuring compliance in all duties and interactions. The hourly pay rate for this position is $11.00, reflecting the university's commitment to fairly compensate their student workforce.
In addition to daily tasks, the Work-Study/Office Assistant may be assigned special project duties that require timely and precise completion. Strong organizational skills, reliability, and a proactive attitude will be key to success in this role. While the position does not provide sponsorship and is not benefits-eligible, it offers invaluable work experience in a vibrant academic environment that supports professional growth and development.
