Job Description
Open Sky Community Services is a leading human services organization dedicated to providing compassionate care and support to individuals diagnosed with mental health and substance use disorders across Central Massachusetts and beyond. With a robust team of over 1,100 highly trained professionals, Open Sky is committed to delivering innovative, evidence-based practices that foster positive transformations in the communities it serves. The organization champions a trauma-informed approach that emphasizes transparency, sensitivity, and self-care, ensuring a supportive and inclusive environment for both clients and employees. As part of its core values, Open Sky actively pursues an anti-racist and equity-driven mission, promoting inclusion, diversity, racial equity, and justice for all individuals it supports and employs.
Open Sky's Respite Programs offer short-term group living environments designed to provide stabilization and crisis intervention for adults experiencing mental health and/or substance use disorders. These programs are vital in empowering participants to develop essential skills for maintaining independence and living fulfilling lives beyond their mental health challenges. The Assistant Program Coordinator role within this program is pivotal, functioning as a leadership position that collaborates closely with Residential Counselors to deliver direct support services. Although not an overnight role, the Assistant Program Coordinator supervises overnight staff to ensure consistent care quality and safety. This position is also responsible for administrative tasks such as assisting with program scheduling, budget management, and facilitating team meetings, thereby supporting the overall program's operational success.
The role requires an individual who is dedicated and flexible, with a passion for helping others and a commitment to professional growth. Key responsibilities include assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), medication administration, behavioral intervention, and participation in group therapy and recreational activities. Moreover, the Assistant Program Coordinator serves as a role model, helping clients develop positive social roles and fostering community engagement. This position also participates in on-call rotations and aids with staff supervision and team coordination efforts. Compensation is competitive, with a base hourly rate of $22.64 and the potential for an additional hourly differential based on skills, location, training, and population served.
Open Sky is renowned for its exemplary workplace culture, prioritizing employee wellbeing, ongoing professional development, and comprehensive benefits. Employees begin with generous paid time off totaling 29 days in the first year—equivalent to nearly 6 weeks—and enjoy increases in vacation time in subsequent years. The organization supports educational advancement with tuition reimbursement and credential-related funding. Health benefits are comprehensive, including medical, dental, vision, and prescription coverage. Financial security is further enhanced through a 403b retirement plan with employer matching contributions and fully employer-paid life insurance. Open Sky is also an eligible employer for the Public Student Loan Forgiveness Program.
Joining Open Sky means becoming part of a mission-driven team that values diverse perspectives and fosters a positive work culture grounded in respect and continuous learning. Those who choose to work here open the door to a meaningful career devoted to community impact and personal fulfillment.
