Job Description

The opportunity to serve as the Women’s Services Assistant Nurse Manager at a renowned nonprofit pediatric hospital in the Portland metro area presents an inspiring career path for nursing leaders passionate about elevating maternal-child healthcare. This nonprofit pediatric hospital is nationally acclaimed for its quality outcomes, nursing professionalism, and exceptional patient experience. Founded on the principles of compassionate, family-centered care and cutting-edge innovation, the hospital consistently embraces evidence-based practice, interprofessional collaboration, and continuous improvement. This commitment ensures a healthcare environment where both patients and clinicians thrive. As an organization, it stands out for its investment in state-of-the-art technology including integrated electronic medical records (EMR), smart-bed systems, fetal and neonatal monitoring, point-of-care diagnostics, and simulation-based education to enhance clinical skills and patient safety. Backed by substantial community support and philanthropy, the facility continuously advances its infrastructure, research, and clinical innovations to meet the evolving needs of families served.

In the role of Women’s Services Assistant Nurse Manager, you will lead with heart and elevate care standards within a comprehensive women’s services department seamlessly connected to specialized pediatric care. This department offers an integrated continuum of care that caters to birthing individuals, newborns, and families, including triage, labor and delivery, antepartum, mother-baby/postpartum care, lactation support, perinatal education, and a high-acuity Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) supported by expert pediatric subspecialists. As a key leader, you will promote trauma-informed, culturally responsive care and ensure families are at the center of every clinical decision. Reporting to an experienced Nurse Manager and working closely with the Director of Maternal-Child Health, clinical educators, and a committed perinatal quality team, you will advance a culture of excellence, safety, and compassion.

Your leadership will emphasize daily operational management, staff engagement, efficient scheduling and staffing solutions, patient throughput, regulatory compliance, quality and safety initiatives, and the overall enhancement of patient experience. A crucial element of this role is mentoring emerging nurse leaders, preceptors, and charge RNs, fostering a collaborative environment that nurtures growth and maintains high-performance standards around the clock. The hospital’s culture champions teamwork, respect, and shared governance, making it a dynamic place to develop your leadership expertise while impacting maternal and newborn care throughout the Pacific Northwest.

Beyond the rewarding professional landscape, the position offers the chance to live in the vibrant Portland area, celebrated for its stunning natural beauty and active lifestyle options. Whether it’s exploring Forest Park’s trails, skiing Mt. Hood, enjoying beach days on the Oregon Coast, or participating in Portland’s acclaimed food scene and cultural events, the quality of life is exceptional. The area’s bike-friendly streets, abundant parks, farmers markets, and lack of state sales tax contribute to a balanced, wellness-focused lifestyle ideal for professionals seeking work-life harmony.

Compensation for the Women’s Services Assistant Nurse Manager can reach up to $218,000 annually, alongside a comprehensive benefits package designed to support you and your family’s health and financial future. Professional development is strongly encouraged, with resources dedicated to advancing your leadership skills within a mission-driven organization that values and invests in its people. If you’re ready to take the next step in maternal-child health leadership, this role offers an unparalleled opportunity to make a lasting impact while growing your career within a nationally respected institution.
