The Shift Leader role at Wingstop plays a pivotal part in supporting the General Manager and Assistant Manager with the daily operations of the restaurant, stepping into a leadership position in the General Manager's absence. This role is designed for individuals who are driven to contribute to the success of the store by ensuring smooth day-to-day operations and excellent customer service. A Shift Leader helps drive sales, control labor and food costs, and uphold food safety and cleanliness standards as outlined in Wingstop’s Standard Operating Procedures.

The position requires overseeing cash management practices and making sure that all money-handling policies are strictly followed, including verifying daily credit card batch settlements and managing cash deposits. Additionally, Shift Leaders engage professionally with customers to ensure their satisfaction and address any HR matters that arise during their shifts in accordance with company policies.

Further duties involve operational tasks such as completing weekly inventory, preparing food and supply orders, and managing daily responsibilities including chicken counts, position assignments, and cash drawer deposits. Shift Leaders must demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to assist team members in various roles within the store, while maintaining a proactive and urgent approach to work in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates for this role typically have at least six months of experience in a restaurant or retail environment and are capable of opening and closing shifts as necessary. Some familiarity with computer and register (POS) systems is preferred. Reliable attendance, a strong work ethic, and a professional appearance with a clean uniform are necessary attributes for success in this position. Shift Leaders must be able to stand for extended periods and handle repetitive tasks involving mobility of hands and arms and lifting up to 50 pounds.

Job Requirements

  • minimum 6 months experience in restaurant or retail environment
  • must be able to open and close shifts as needed

  • ability to stand for up to 8 hours during a shift
  • ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • full mobility of hands and arms while performing repetitive tasks

Job Duties

  • assist and support the General Manager in meeting store goals including covering for the General Manager’s days off
  • drive operational excellence by driving sales and controlling labor and food costs during shifts
  • follow all cash management and cash register policies and ensure proper cash management practices by shift team
  • assure daily bank cash deposits and verify daily credit card batch settlement
  • maintain permanent food safety and restaurant cleanliness in accordance with company policy and Wingstop SOP
  • assure that all food is handled prepared and served in accordance with Wingstop’s SOP
  • engage in professional conversation with customers to assure their satisfaction
  • address all HR matters that occur during the shift in accordance with company policies
  • complete weekly inventory and prepare and submit food and supply orders
  • perform daily tasks including chicken counts, figure 8, position assignments, position task completions, open workflow, cash draw deposits, and closing workflow
  • assist all other positions when necessary
  • work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment
