Job Description

Michael Angelo's Winery is a prestigious and iconic winery located in Richfield, Ohio, renowned for its commitment to crafting exceptional wines of the highest quality. Established in the summer of 2018, Michael Angelo's Winery has quickly become a premier destination for wine enthusiasts and the local community alike, offering memorable experiences that celebrate life's special moments through elevating hospitality and excellence in winemaking. The winery operates from a state-of-the-art facility where all wines are produced and bottled on-site, reflecting the company’s dedication to quality and authenticity. By collaborating with vineyards across the United States, mainly sourcing 80 percent of their fruit from the West Coast, Michael Angelo's Winery highlights the best grapes from diverse regions, which results in a rich, flavorful selection of wines. Additionally, the winery maintains its own 4-acre vineyard on site that grows Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, primarily supporting its award-winning sparkling wine program. This balance between local farming and nationwide partnerships showcases the winery’s commitment to quality and sustainability. Michael Angelo's operates under three core values: People, Product, and Environment. The People cornerstone emphasizes attracting and retaining top talent, offering professional growth, comprehensive benefits including a 401K plan, paid time off, and a bonus structure. The Product value highlights the dedication to crafting seasonal menus using the best ingredients and techniques, reflecting the location's status as Northeast Ohio’s quintessential dining destination. The Environment commitment is to provide a carefully maintained and thoughtfully chosen setting that makes every guest’s visit unforgettable. The winery has three total locations, including a bakery in Broadview Heights and two winery locations in Richfield and Solon, with the latter expected to open in spring 2028. With over 180 employees and more than 650 events hosted annually, Michael Angelo's Winery has earned recognition for its extensive array of over 17 award-winning wine varieties and was named the Best Winery in Cleveland for two consecutive years.

The Winemaker role at Michael Angelo’s Winery is a full-time, on-site position based at their Richfield facility. Reporting directly to the Winery Owners, the Winemaker is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the winemaking process, from vineyard management to final bottling. This role encompasses critical operational stages including grape sourcing, fermentation, blending, harvesting, aging, and ensuring product quality and consistency. The Winemaker will be instrumental in maintaining the winery's reputation for excellence by managing vineyard health, determining optimal harvest timing based on scientific analysis of sugar and acidity levels, and leading production and cellar activities such as crushing, pressing, fermentation, and aging in both barrels and stainless-steel tanks. An analytical approach is vital for controlling chemical components to prevent spoilage, while the artistic vision will guide blending decisions to produce wines with the desired flavor profiles and characteristics. This position also involves logistics coordination for harvests, maintaining sanitary conditions, and equipment upkeep. Administrative responsibilities include maintaining accurate records for regulatory compliance, inventory control, forecasting, and collaborating on brand development initiatives to support the winery’s growth strategy. The Winemaker will act as a leader and mentor within the production team, nurturing talent and fostering teamwork. This role demands a unique blend of scientific expertise, operational precision, and creativity to ensure the creation of award-winning wines that uphold the company’s standards. Candidates passionate about winemaking with a drive to create exceptional wines and contribute to a dynamic team culture are encouraged to apply.
