The Deep Sea Wine Tasting Room is located in the beautiful Ventura Harbor Village in Ventura, California. This charming establishment is known for providing a welcoming and memorable wine tasting experience that draws both locals and visitors alike. The Deep Sea Wine Tasting Room is currently seeking part-time tasting room associates who are passionate about wine, hospitality, and creating delightful experiences for guests. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced and interactive environment, where customer service and product knowledge are paramount. The tasting room associates guide customers through wine tasting flights, sharing stories about the winemaking process and the unique qualities of each wine. They also support the kitchen by preparing and serving artisanal pizzas, cheese plates, and other small plate options, contributing to a well-rounded, enjoyable visit.
The job embraces an engaging and service-oriented approach, encouraging team members to connect with guests on a personal level to enhance their experience. In addition to tasting and food service responsibilities, associates handle point-of-sale transactions accurately and efficiently, manage opening and closing duties, and promote the wine club to meet sales goals. The work schedule includes 2-4 shifts weekly, with a requirement to work at least one weekend day and availability for holidays when needed. A food handler’s certification and responsible beverage service (RBS) certification are mandatory, though these can be obtained upon hiring, making it accessible for enthusiastic candidates who meet the age requirement of 21 years and above.

Job Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Food handler’s certificate required or willing to obtain upon hiring
- Responsible beverage service certification required or willing to obtain upon hiring
- Ability to work 2-4 shifts per week including at least one weekend day and holidays if needed
- Ability to repeatedly lift over 40 pounds
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to stand for long periods
Job Qualifications
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Strong customer service skills focused on hospitality
- Experience in hospitality and food preparation is a plus
- Passion for wine and desire to be a strong team member
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to repeatedly lift over 40 pounds and stand for long periods
- Food handler’s certificate and responsible beverage training certificate required (can be obtained at hiring)
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Job Duties
- Provide a premium wine tasting experience by engaging guests meaningfully
- Know how to accurately and carefully operate the POS system and handle cash
- Be responsible for opening and closing duties of the tasting room
- Assemble cheese plates and hot food items, handle washing dishes and other back-of-house duties
- Promote and sell wine and wine clubs to achieve sales goals
- Participate in occasional team meetings
- Be available to work at least one weekend day plus 2-3 additional shifts
