The position offered is for a Wine Steward, a crucial role responsible for overseeing the wine program and ensuring the highest standards of service. As a Wine Steward at Caesars Entertainment, you will be entrusted with managing wine inventory and controls, training servers on proper wine knowledge, and maintaining the wine list including vintages and descriptions essential for daily operations. You will play a key role in optimizing wine revenues and costs, ensuring consistent and superior service standards in the outlet. Your responsibilities also include managing daily revenue, pricing, and cost of goods related to wine sales, as well as assisting in monthly inventory processes.

The ideal Wine Steward candidate will have at least one year of experience in wine stewarding or as a sommelier, possess extensive knowledge of both Old World and New World wines, liquors, cocktails, and fortified wines, and preferably hold an Introductory to Advanced Sommelier Certificate or equivalent. Communication skills in English, professionalism in appearance and behavior, teamwork abilities, and flexibility to work various shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays are essential. You must be able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, handle guest complaints professionally, and ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met.

Job Requirements

  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Minimum 1 year prior wine stewarding or sommelier experience
  • Must have extensive knowledge of Old World and New World wines, liquor, cocktails, fortified wines
  • Intro to advanced sommelier certificate preferred or equivalent
  • Work requires effective communication in English both verbal and written
  • Must present a neat and professional appearance
  • Work requires interactions with customers, public and co-workers
  • Work requires teamwork with other staff members
  • Work requires schedule flexibility which may include nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Must help with all sequence of service standards
  • Fast paced, high volume environment involving constant public
  • Requires standing, walking, and lifting a minimum of 50lbs repeatedly
  • Shifts may vary
  • Must be able to handle intoxicated guests in a professional manner
  • Must be able to tolerate secondary tobacco smoke

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Ensure wine service standards are met and maintained
  • Oversee all wine and wine related operations including assisting with monthly inventory, receiving, pricing, reconciliation and sales
  • Maintain wine lists including printing, re-writing (vintage changes) and daily descriptions essential to functioning restaurant
  • Manage daily revenue, costs and expenses for wine sales
  • Assist in managing pricing and cost of goods, making recommendations for improvements
  • Improve overall wine revenues as well as costs
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality service standards are maintained in outlet
  • Maintain service guidelines set for the operation
  • Be knowledgeable about the menu and answer guest questions
  • Take responsibility for handling guest complaints, resolving with management approval
  • Ensure that all areas are kept clean and in proper condition to provide a safe working environment for employees
  • Respond to guest inquiries about other events in the casino such as special events, shows etc.
