Job Requirements
- Minimum 21 years of age
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Current food handler's certification
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Experience with wine service
- Wine certification such as WSET Level 2 or Court of Masters Level 1
- Ability to open all types of wine bottles
- Knowledge of wine service standards
- Ability to maintain wine inventory and organize storage
- Ability to interact courteously with guests and team members
- Ability to comply with state liquor laws
- Physical ability to perform job duties including decanting and pouring
Job Qualifications
- Minimum of 21 years of age
- High school graduate with some college preferred
- Level 1 Court of Masters, WSET Level 2, or equivalent wine certification
- Current California Food Handler's Card
- Proficient in verbal and written English communication
- Able to use Open Table database for guest notes
- Skilled in opening all types of wine and champagne bottles
- Knowledgeable about proper wine glassware and decanting techniques
- Understanding of major winemaking regions, vineyards, styles, vintages, producers, and bottlings
- Comprehensive knowledge of wine service standards
- Ability to describe characteristics, pricing, and details of wines by the glass and major wines on the list
- Awareness of state liquor laws, especially regarding service to minors and intoxicated persons
Job Duties
- Drive sales at all times, considering guest taste preferences and budgets
- Visit tables to take wine orders and confirm orders during presentation of wine
- Serve wine expertly including proper pouring and decanting techniques
- Build and maintain the Open Table Guest notes database
- Manage evening wine inventory and restock as needed
- Follow wine service standards for ringing in and tracking orders
- Maintain neat and organized wine storage areas
- Maintain the "Wine Bible" with updated sheets on current and past wines
- Attend to guest dissatisfaction promptly and inform management
- Ensure cleanliness and availability of wine glassware and decanters
- Assist with inventories and wine ordering as directed
- Assist with guest services including hosting, bussing, running food and drinks
- Participate actively in ongoing crew wine education
- Maintain high energy, enthusiasm, and attention to detail
- Complete assigned side work duties
