Job Description
Our company is a renowned retailer specializing in fine wines, beers, and gourmet foods, dedicated to providing an exceptional shopping experience for our valued customers. With a strong commitment to quality, customer satisfaction, and community engagement, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse selection of specialty wines and craft beers alongside expert guidance to help customers discover unique products. The company emphasizes a welcoming store atmosphere, safety, and exceptional service, creating a rewarding environment for both customers and associates alike. We are currently seeking a knowledgeable and customer-focused Wine and Beer Specialist to join our dynamic team. This full-time position offers competitive salary and benefits, tailored to attract passionate individuals who thrive in a retail setting and have a genuine love for wine and beer culture.
As a Wine and Beer Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to create an outstanding customer experience through exceptional service, encouraging repeat business and fostering customer loyalty. You will assist the department manager to achieve sales and profit targets while upholding quality assurance standards. A crucial aspect of this role is embracing the Customer 1st strategy, leading by example in delivering excellent customer service, and promoting core company values including respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Your expertise in the varieties of imported and domestic wines and beers, as well as knowledge of flavor profiles and industry trends, will enable you to educate and assist customers effectively. You will be instrumental in building trust and respect among associates and creating an inviting environment where customers feel welcomed, important, and appreciated. This includes answering product-related questions, providing recommendations, and offering product samples in compliance with company guidelines and legal regulations.
Moreover, the role involves collaborating closely with the store chef for wine tastings and special programs designed to showcase new and seasonal products. Maintaining proper storage temperatures and temperature logs for wine coolers and cases is essential to preserving product quality. The Wine and Beer Specialist will also actively participate in safety programs, reporting hazards, accidents, and any illegal activities to store management promptly. Your contribution will ensure that safety procedures are reinforced consistently and equipment is well-maintained through preventive inspections.
This position requires someone who is at least 21 years old, possesses effective communication skills, and can handle stressful situations with professionalism. You should have at least a high school education or equivalent, retail experience, and some background working specifically with wine and beer products. A second language skill, whether speaking, reading, or writing, is highly valued to better serve our diverse clientele. Additionally, successful candidates will need to pass a wine test once employed to demonstrate proficiency and product knowledge.
Joining our team as a Wine and Beer Specialist means becoming part of a company that values personal and professional growth, emphasizes teamwork, and is committed to delivering exceptional service in a welcoming environment. If you are enthusiastic about wine and beer, enjoy engaging with customers, and are eager to contribute to a safe, inclusive workplace that fosters respect and integrity, this opportunity is ideal for you. Embark on a rewarding career path with us, where your skills and passion will be recognized and nurtured in a supportive retail environment.
