Job Description
Vinifera Wine Marketing is a distinguished woman-owned wine brokerage dedicated to representing family-owned, artisanal wineries from California, Oregon, and Washington, as well as imported wines from The Sorting Table Imports. The company is deeply passionate about the stories behind each wine, whether they are rooted in the rich history of vineyards or are pioneering the future of wine production. Vinifera is committed to delivering exceptional wines alongside superior hospitality to their accounts, fostering relationships that are driven by integrity and a genuine appreciation for quality and craftsmanship.
Established as a leader within the wine distribution and marketing landscape, Vinifera Wine Marketing prides itself on building meaningful, long-lasting partnerships with wineries and buyers alike. The company emphasizes a relationship-driven approach, ensuring that every interaction with buyers and accounts is founded on trust, transparency, and mutual growth. Their portfolio, which highlights unique and artisanal producers, appeals to connoisseurs and casual wine enthusiasts seeking top-tier products and personalized service.
The role of a Wine Sales Representative at Vinifera is pivotal to the company’s ongoing expansion across multiple territories throughout California, including San Francisco/South Bay Area, San Luis Obispo/Paso Robles/Santa Barbara, Los Angeles, Orange County (Anaheim/Long Beach), and San Diego County. As a Wine Sales Representative, your primary responsibilities will include managing and growing an account base within a well-defined geographic territory. This role requires building and maintaining strong relationships with buyers in retail and restaurant settings, scheduling tastings and meetings, and actively participating in winery visits, trade events, and industry tastings.
Ideal candidates will have established relationships with buyers and possess prior experience in wine sales. Importantly, representatives must reside in the territory for which they are applying, ensuring local market knowledge and accessibility. This position is well-suited for individuals looking to add to their existing portfolio, offering an opportunity to work with a highly organized company that values growth and professional development.
Compensation for this position operates on a 1099 independent contractor basis, with earnings based exclusively on commission and no cap on potential income. This compensation structure rewards motivated sales professionals who can leverage their wine industry experience and network to expand Vinifera’s reach and influence in their assigned territories.
As a member of the Vinifera team, you will embody the company’s passion for remarkable wines and their stories, delivering this enthusiasm directly to a diverse range of clients. The role is not remote and candidates must be residents of California to apply. This focus allows the company to maintain a strong, localized presence and deep connections within each specific market. Vinifera’s supportive and dynamic work environment fosters continuous learning and professional growth, particularly for those eager to deepen their knowledge of wine varieties, including those from Italy, France, and Austria.
