Job Description
The Angus Barn is a renowned dining establishment known for its commitment to providing exceptional service and memorable experiences for every guest. Located in an inviting and distinguished setting, the Angus Barn prides itself on creating an atmosphere where each visitor feels like the most important person in the world. The restaurant has a long-standing reputation for quality food and outstanding hospitality, making it a beloved destination for locals and visitors alike. As a premier dining venue, the Angus Barn continuously strives to uphold the highest standards of service, ambiance, and guest satisfaction, attracting a diverse clientele who appreciate fine dining and impeccable service.
We are currently seeking dedicated and personable Bar Staff to join our team. These positions are crucial in maintaining the quality and reputation of the Angus Barn by ensuring guests receive attentive and friendly service at the bar. Bar Staff roles include servicing various bars such as service bars, swing bar back positions, wine runs, and private party bars. Successful candidates will have a pleasant personality, a welcoming smile, and a positive attitude, alongside an even temperament and a genuine enjoyment of working with the public. Good grooming, hygiene, and efficiency are essential characteristics.
At the Angus Barn, Bar Staff members undergo an approximate three-week training program designed to fully prepare them for their responsibilities, including mixing drinks according to our drink recipes, responding to guest requests within North Carolina regulations, and being trained in responsible alcohol service practices. Responsibilities may also include handling dinner checks and cash transactions, maintaining a balanced cash drawer, and assisting with bar stocking, drink garnish preparation, and cleaning duties.
Physical stamina is necessary as Bar Staff must be able to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and handle short lifts up to 150 pounds, such as lifting beer kegs. The role also requires retrieving wine from the wine cellar, which involves navigating two flights of stairs, highlighting the need for physical capability. Flexibility and willingness to work varied shifts are important, as Bar Staff may occasionally need to report earlier than usual for inventory, menu changes, wine classes, private functions, or staff meetings.
In addition to core bar duties, Bar Staff are expected to assist with other tasks as needed, which may include valet services, cocktail or banquet server roles, and contributing to overall restaurant operations, reflecting the team-oriented nature of the work environment. The Wild Turkey Lounge positions, however, are filled at management discretion. This is a full-time role with no summer-only positions available, emphasizing a commitment to the year-round excellence that the Angus Barn upholds.
