The stores are designed to meet diverse customer needs through quality product selections, knowledgeable staff, and a dedication to support both customers and employees alike. The company culture is centered around core values such as partnership, a growth mindset, being results-oriented, and professionalism which ensures a consistent and engaging experience for all shoppers.
The Wine & Spirits Clerk role at Hy-Vee is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about customer service and product knowledge in the specialty beverage sector. This position is classified as non-exempt and offers an hourly wage ranging from $13.50 to $16.80 depending on experience, making it an accessible entry-level position with room for skill development and career growth. Serving in the Wine & Spirits department, the clerk acts as a frontline ambassador, delivering prompt, efficient, and friendly service to customers. This includes rotating stock, facing and replenishing items to maintain attractive and well-stocked shelves, and adhering strictly to state and company policies regarding age restrictions and the sale of alcoholic beverages and tobacco. The role demands a keen attention to detail and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment to uphold the store’s reputation for excellence.
The clerk is also expected to perform secondary duties such as ordering product under supervision, assisting with inventory control, building displays, and supporting other store areas when necessary. Physical capabilities are important for this role as it requires the ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds occasionally, and the performance of various physical activities including climbing, bending, and standing for extended periods. The position occasionally involves exposure to cleaning solvents and requires adherence to sanitation and safety practices to maintain a clean and safe work environment.
This role is ideal for a motivated individual eager to develop strong product expertise and customer service skills within a supportive and established retail environment. Hy-Vee offers not just a job, but a career with opportunities for advancement, backed by a comprehensive benefits package. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening. If you are ready to contribute your positive attitude and commitment to customer satisfaction, this position offers an excellent platform to grow within a nationally recognized company known for valuing its people and community.
