The General Manager role is a critical leadership position within the restaurant that involves managing daily operations to promote efficiency, safety, compliance, and customer satisfaction. In addition to overseeing operational functions, the General Manager is responsible for financial management tasks such as budgeting, forecasting, and analyzing profit and loss statements to meet or exceed sales goals while controlling labor and food costs. They ensure all safety and compliance regulations are strictly followed, including food safety audits and health department standards. Moreover, the General Manager drives customer service excellence by promptly addressing issues and maintaining clear communication with customers, vendors, and team members. This role also includes physical demands like standing, reaching, bending, carrying items, and working in various environmental conditions typical of the restaurant industry, including exposure to heat and cleaning chemicals. The ideal candidate will have at least two years of supervisory or management experience in a restaurant setting, possess strong leadership and problem-solving skills, and be ServSafe certified.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years supervisory or management experience in a restaurant setting
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • ServSafe certification required
  • Proficiency with cash handling, smart safe operation, and POS systems
  • Ability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Reliable transportation

  • Ability to resolve customer concerns promptly and professionally

Job Duties

  • Lead and manage the restaurant team by hiring, training, motivating, and developing employees
  • Conduct onboarding and orientation for new hires using the company’s learning management system
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide coaching
  • Enforce uniform and grooming standards
  • Maintain a positive culture supporting retention and teamwork
  • Oversee scheduling, food ordering, inventory management, and payroll processes
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and manage opening and closing procedures
  • Monitor compliance with daily walk-throughs, critical checklists, and food safety standards
  • Conduct internal self-assessments and ensure adherence to health and safety audits
  • Complete weekly inventory counts and reporting
  • Work stations during peak periods and team breaks to maintain service levels
  • Ensure prompt, friendly, accurate, and high-quality customer service
  • Achieve service metrics in friendliness, accuracy, cleanliness, speed, and taste
  • Address and resolve customer concerns professionally and promptly
  • Drive customer experience improvements through coaching and training
  • Manage financial performance including budgeting, forecasting, and P&L analysis
  • Control labor, food, and operating expenses
  • Analyze operating statements and business trends
  • Ensure cash controls, safe operations, deposits, and reconciliations
  • Ensure compliance with all regulations and company policies
  • Enforce timekeeping policies and report concerns
  • Maintain accurate records and complete reports
  • Report claims of harassment, discrimination, or inappropriate behavior
  • Ensure safety training, certifications, and documentation are up to date
