The Assistant Manager role within WKS Restaurant Group is a pivotal position designed to support the General Manager in all aspects of daily restaurant operations. This role serves as a crucial learning and leadership opportunity, often acting as a direct pathway toward becoming a General Manager. Assistant Managers are responsible for maintaining high standards of customer service, ensuring food safety compliance, managing staff, and overseeing operational functions such as inventory, scheduling, and financial transactions. The Assistant Manager will contribute to fostering a team-oriented workplace, motivating and training employees through comprehensive onboarding and continuous development programs using advanced learning management systems like WKS+ and WeLearn.

This role offers a competitive pay range of $20.00 to $26.00 per hour, with actual earnings influenced by factors including experience, education, location, and hours worked. The Assistant Manager is expected to uphold the company’s policies and procedures rigorously, including dress code and workplace conduct, while fostering a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment. Additionally, this position requires physical activities such as lifting, standing for long periods, and occasionally driving to nearby store locations when needed.

The Assistant Manager assists with operational tasks such as food ordering, inventory control, restaurant opening and closing procedures, and adhering to safety audits and health department standards. A critical aspect of the position is delivering exceptional customer experiences by achieving metrics related to friendliness, accuracy, cleanliness, speed, and taste, and resolving customer issues professionally. Financial responsibilities include supporting sales and profitability goals, managing cash and POS systems, conducting audits, and handling company funds securely.

Successful candidates for this role will bring at least two years of supervisory experience in a restaurant setting and must be skilled in leadership, communication, problem-solving, and multitasking within a fast-paced environment. ServSafe certification and proficiency with restaurant technology platforms are required, along with flexible availability including weekends and holidays. Reliable transportation and the ability to work at various district locations as needed are also essential.

Job Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations as required by Wendy's International, WKS, and applicable local and state laws
  • ServSafe certification required

  • Comfortable with email and company technology platforms
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays
  • Access to reliable transportation to report to scheduled shifts, trainings, and meetings
  • Willingness to work at nearby store locations within the district as needed

Job Duties

  • Assist with hiring, training, motivating, and developing team members to ensure restaurant success
  • Conduct onboarding and orientation for new team members using the company’s learning management system
  • Represent the General Manager in meetings, training sessions, and promotional activities when the GM is not available
  • Enforce uniform and grooming standards and ensure compliance with workplace conduct policies
  • Assist the General Manager with food ordering, scheduling, and inventory control
  • Manage restaurant opening and closing procedures, including security protocols
  • Ensure high levels of customer service and speed of service metrics are achieved
