Job Description

Oceaneering International, a global leader in engineered services and products, caters primarily to the offshore energy industry and various other specialized sectors such as government, space, maritime, entertainment, aerospace, science, and renewable energy. With over 30 years of expertise, the Marine Services Division (MSD) of Oceaneering has specialized in full-service submarine and surface ship repairs, offering critical maintenance and alterations for commercial and U.S. military vessels. Certified by SUBSAFE and DDS-SOC, the division emphasizes high-consequence maintenance on assets functioning in the most demanding and complex environments, of both underwater and surface operations. The Oceaneering Aerospace and Defense Technologies (AdTech) division spearheads innovative solutions that empower humans to work safely and effectively in extreme conditions — ranging from subsea environments to outer space. Their products and services are designed to meet stringent standards of safety, reliability, and performance, addressing challenges from routine to extreme through practical, cost-effective technologies. This job opportunity is for an experienced Welder to join the Marine Services Division, contributing to the repair, modification, and installation of pipes, structures, foundations, and fittings associated with shipboard hydraulic, pneumatic, and water systems. The role demands proficiency in various welding processes, careful selection of materials, and fabrication of fixtures and jigs for precision welding alignments. Given the critical nature of these operations on military and commercial vessels, candidates must uphold strict safety, quality, and housekeeping standards. This is a full-time position with frequent travel and possible overtime requirements reflecting the operational demands and locations of the vessels serviced. The Welder's work environment involves heavy lifting and physical activities including stooping, bending, working in overhead structures, confined spaces, and beneath machinery. The candidate must possess a high level of critical thinking and reading comprehension skills to accurately interpret technical documents such as blueprints, drawings, and schematics prior to execution. Performance excellence is expected without supervision, and experienced welders will also serve as mentors to junior craftsmen, fostering skilled trade growth within the company. Working conditions entail mostly indoor shop environments with exposure to moving and vibrating equipment, high humidity, intense light and noise, occasional contact with open flames and sparks, airborne dust, fumes, gases, and fluctuating temperature extremes. The physical workload is medium, with tasks requiring lifting weights ranging from 10 to 50 pounds, working in confined spaces, and engaging in repetitive arm and hand movements. Proper use of personal protective equipment is mandatory to ensure safety and compliance. Oceaneering values diversity and equal opportunity in employment and provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes health and wellness programs, mental health support, retirement savings options, life and disability insurance, paid maternity and parental leave, paid time off, tuition reimbursement, and employee assistance programs. The company invites qualified candidates who meet the position’s stringent requirements and security clearance standards to apply and grow professionally within a highly respected global enterprise.
