The Concierge Service department at Advocate Sinai Medical Center is seeking a full-time Concierge to provide exceptional guest services and support the smooth operation of facility entrances and patient transport. This role offers full-time employment with a 40-hour workweek on the first shift and a competitive pay range between $18.85 and $28.30 per hour. The Concierge acts as the welcoming and departing face of the medical center, responsible for managing first impressions with professionalism and warmth.

This position involves greeting and assisting patients, visitors, and staff with prompt and courteous service, answering telephones, and coordinating communications between multiple departments and transport services. A key responsibility is utilizing the Epic system efficiently to look up patient appointments and process transport requests, ensuring seamless coordination and patient flow. The Concierge is also tasked with addressing and resolving guest concerns and complaints, collaborating with hospital staff, and maintaining orderly traffic flow at facility entrances. Physical tasks include assisting with patient transport via wheelchairs and escorting patients to and from vehicles, often in challenging weather conditions. Candidates must be able to stand and walk for most of their shift and handle various physical demands including lifting and pushing.

The ideal candidate will have at least two years of experience in a customer service-oriented role, possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrate the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Life support training courses may be required depending on departmental needs, and prior experience with Epic software is advantageous. This role requires a high level of accuracy, teamwork, and independent problem-solving skills.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2 years experience in customer service role
  • ability to stand and walk approximately 95% of the workday
  • ability to withstand exposure to extreme cold and heat approximately 95% of the workday
  • able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, and moving patients via wheelchairs and escorting
  • ability to tolerate minimal exposures of odors from auto emissions/gasoline

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED

  • excellent customer service, communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills

Job Duties

  • Successfully manage the first and last impressions of the facility
  • proactively approach, greet and acknowledge all in a friendly, professional manner and provide quick, responsive guest service
  • answer telephone and make calls to department, units and outside organizations as requested
  • successfully utilize the Epic system for appointment and patient look-up, input of transport requests
  • properly communicate with all departments and transport companies on behalf of patients/visitors
  • partner with all hospital staff
  • problem-solve, manage conflict, address patient/visitor concerns and complaints, and initiate recovery steps for service failures
  • assist in maintaining a smooth traffic flow at the entrances to the facility
  • physically assist in the transport of patients/visitors through wheelchair use and escorting - both external and internal
  • physically assist patients in/out of vehicles
  • when required, provide symptom screening of patients/visitors entering the facility by asking structured health questions
