Job Description
Metropolitan Ministries is a well-established community nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of poor and homeless men, women, and children in the Tampa Bay area. Founded in 1972, this grassroots organization has been tirelessly working for over five decades to provide compassionate and practical solutions to those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Serving families across Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco, Polk, and Hernando counties, Metropolitan Ministries relies heavily on donors, volunteers, and community partnerships to fulfill its mission. Known for its hands-on approach, the organization not only shelters the homeless but also offers them resources and support designed to foster self-sufficiency and holistic well-being.
Joining Metropolitan Ministries means becoming part of a passionate team focused on making a meaningful difference in the community. The agency fosters an inclusive and supportive work environment where employees have opportunities for career development and can actively contribute to shaping a better future for vulnerable populations.
The current position available is for a Welcome Center Receptionist. This vital role serves as the first point of contact for Metropolitan Ministries' guests, donors, board members, and community partners. The receptionist is responsible for delivering outstanding customer service and managing multiple communications channels with professionalism and grace. In addition to greeting visitors and callers, the receptionist provides general clerical support to the Executive Office, including mail handling, conference room reservations, and maintaining an inviting lobby atmosphere.
The role demands strong interpersonal skills, a heart for ministry, and comfort with working alongside individuals facing poverty and homelessness. The receptionist is not only a face of Metropolitan Ministries but also a key player in coordinating office functions and supporting volunteer activities. By managing a high volume of incoming telephone calls, directing guests appropriately, and keeping administrative procedures running smoothly, the receptionist helps advance the organization’s goals effectively.
This full-time role comes with a competitive salary range from $46,000 to $49,000 annually and offers comprehensive benefits including group health, vision, and dental coverage. Preventative care is fully covered, and paid time off along with holidays enhances work-life balance. Employees can also participate in a 401(k) plan with employer match, receive life insurance, and access programs such as tuition reimbursement and employee assistance. Additional perks include discounted YMCA membership and opportunities for training and career growth.
Working at Metropolitan Ministries offers not only a job but a calling to impact vulnerable populations in meaningful ways, within a collaborative and mission-driven environment. Prospective candidates who value social services and community engagement will find this role rewarding as they assist in creating a welcoming and efficient environment that supports both the organization’s team and the people it serves.
