Job Description

Wegmans is a renowned leader in the food retail industry, known for its commitment to quality, customer service, and employee development. Founded over a century ago, Wegmans has grown into a celebrated supermarket chain committed to providing customers with fresh, high-quality products and exceptional shopping experiences. The company's strong values center around putting people first, whether that be customers, employees, or community members, which has earned it a consistent position on the Fortune 100 Best Companies to Work For list since 1998. This establishes Wegmans not only as a leader in retail but also as an employer of choice for those seeking meaningful and rewarding careers.

Located in Chestnut Hill, MA, at 200 Boylston Street, the store is currently offering a full-time position for individuals who are ready to embark on a leadership journey within the food service area of the store. This role is structured as an entry-level leader in training program, designed to be completed within six months. It offers the opportunity to learn company values, business objectives, and operational standards, preparing the candidate for a future position as a shift leader. The position offers competitive hourly pay ranging from $23 to $25.25 and provides a robust support system including mentorship and training.

The role is ideal for passionate individuals who have an interest in fresh food products and who enjoy working in dynamic retail environments. The individual selected will engage extensively with customers and team members, promoting quality, freshness, and product uniqueness. This position includes working a variety of shifts—morning, afternoon, and evening—starting as early as 6 a.m. and including weekends. Applicants must be 18 years or older to apply.

As a leader in training, the employee will develop essential leadership skills, learn how to uphold merchandising standards, support and educate team members, and contribute to delivering outstanding customer service experiences. The job encompasses hands-on experience in managing product displays and helping customers find and select products by offering knowledgeable assistance and meal suggestions. The training program is comprehensive and ensures that successful candidates are well-equipped to step into leadership roles effectively.

Wegmans places a strong emphasis on employee well-being and growth, offering a comprehensive benefits package to support work-life balance, health, wellness, and financial security. Employees enjoy paid time off, premium pay for overtime and holiday shifts, health care benefits, a 401(k) retirement plan with matching, educational scholarships, and wellness programs designed to support emotional and financial health. These benefits, combined with Wegmans’ corporate culture focused on values and mission-driven work, foster a positive and supportive workplace environment where employees can thrive and make a real difference.
