The Cook position at Vitalia Active Adult Community at Solon is a full-time role offering an hourly wage between $19.00 and $32.00. Shifts are primarily scheduled from 6:30 am to 2:00 pm on Fridays through Mondays. Job Requirements

  • must be at least eighteen years of age
  • able to read write understand and communicate in English
  • current food handlers card as specified per the Department of Health
  • demonstrated skills knowledge and competency in leadership training and supervision
  • proficient written and oral communication skills
  • physically able to stand walk bend kneel and stoop all day
  • able to frequently lift and or move items up to 50 pounds
  • comfortable with exposure to extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
  • ability to work indoors and outdoors for events
  • criminal background clearance

Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or equivalent
  • previous culinary or cooking experience preferred
  • ability to follow recipes and food safety standards
  • excellent communication skills
  • leadership skills with ability to train and supervise others
  • proficiency in written and oral communication
  • ability to physically perform tasks such as standing walking bending kneeling and stooping all day
  • ability to lift or move items up to 50 pounds

Job Duties

  • prepare all menu items according to established standards and recipes
  • provide exceptional quality food that is attractively presented in a timely fashion
  • ensure health protocols are always followed including proper hygiene sanitary food preparation and proper food temperatures
  • familiarize yourself with the residents and their preferences and needs
  • participate in resident orientations
  • maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen and dining areas
  • assist with inventory management and food stocking
