Job Description
Batesville is a well-established leader in the death care industry across North America, recognized for its commitment to helping families honor the lives of their loved ones with dignity and respect. The company offers a supportive and family-oriented work environment where employees are valued for their dedication, passion, and the important role they play in serving communities during sensitive times. Known for its innovative products and comprehensive solutions, Batesville aims to deliver exceptional service while fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and growth for its employees. With decades of experience in the industry, Batesville combines tradition with modern technology to maintain its position as a trusted provider of death care merchandise and services.
Currently, Batesville is seeking a Weekend Local Delivery Driver (Non-CDL) based in Columbia, SC, to join their dynamic team on a part-time basis. This position is critical in ensuring timely and safe delivery of products to customers, supporting the company's mission by maintaining high standards of service and safety. The role offers an hourly wage of $21.00 with expected weekly hours ranging from 16 to 20. As a Delivery Driver, you will be responsible for operating commercial motor vehicles such as straight trucks or vans in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws as well as company policies. Your duties will include delivering and unloading caskets safely, nurturing strong customer relationships, and meeting customer service center (CSC) and customer demands effectively.
In addition to operational responsibilities, this role requires adherence to various safety and regulatory standards including Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. You will also be expected to proficiently utilize electronic logging devices (ELDs) to accurately record hours of service and troubleshoot related technology issues. Batesville emphasizes safety by equipping some vehicles with rear and forward-facing cameras to monitor driving behavior and enhance safety measures. The company supports ongoing learning through additional safe driver training or orientation as needed, ensuring you are well-versed in safety policies and procedures. Given the safety-sensitive designation of this position, compliance with all relevant safety and drug/alcohol testing regulations is mandatory.
This role is designed for individuals with strong customer service orientation, excellent attention to detail, and a professional appearance and attitude. Physical demands include the ability to lift and move equipment and products weighing up to 50 pounds frequently and over 100 pounds occasionally. The position also requires a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record with no major violations in the past three years, and a successful road test. Candidates must be at least 21 years old to comply with US DOT requirements and maintain a current DOT physical on file. Batesville offers a comprehensive benefits package including 401(k) matching, dental and health insurance, paid sick time, paid time off, paid training, and vision insurance, supporting employees’ well-being and career advancement. Joining Batesville means becoming part of a family of committed associates who are passionate about providing meaningful service and excited about the company’s future growth and development.
