The role of Cook at Vitalia Montrose is a full-time position with a competitive pay range between $21 and $24 per hour and an attractive $2,000 sign-on bonus. The position operates primarily during the morning to early afternoon shift from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays. This role plays a critical part in the culinary team and overall resident experience by preparing meals that meet strict quality and safety standards. As a Culinary Craftsman, the cook is responsible for ensuring that all menu items are prepared in accordance with established recipes and standards, delivering exceptional food that is both visually appealing and timely.
In addition to culinary expertise, a Cook at Arrow Senior Living serves as a Mess Hall organizer by implementing rigorous health protocols including hygiene, sanitation, and proper food temperatures to guarantee food safety. Acting as a Culinary Connector, the cook builds relationships with residents by understanding their preferences and participating in orientation activities, demonstrating a personalized approach to dining that enhances resident satisfaction. This is an active role requiring physical endurance for standing, walking, and lifting up to 50 pounds, as well as the ability to work in varying temperature conditions both indoors and outdoors.

Job Requirements
- Be at least eighteen years of age
- able to read, write, understand, and communicate in English
- active and able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and stoop all day
- able to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
- comfortable with extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and freezers
- able to work primarily indoors and outdoors for events
- criminally cleared
Job Qualifications
- Possess current Food Handlers Card as specified per the Department of Health
- demonstrated skills, knowledge, and competency in leadership, training, and supervision
- proficient written and oral communication skills
- able to work in a team environment
- basic knowledge of nutrition and food safety
- experience in a similar culinary role preferred
Job Duties
- Prepare all menu items according to established standards and recipes
- provide exceptional quality food that is attractively presented in a timely fashion
- ensure health protocols are always followed including proper hygiene, sanitary food preparation, and proper food temperatures
- familiarize yourself with the residents and their preferences and needs
- participate in resident orientations
- maintain cleanliness and order in the mess hall
- assist in training and supervision of kitchen staff as needed
