Job Description

Casa Serena is a specialized residential treatment center dedicated to providing comprehensive care for women facing challenges related to substance use, mental health, trauma, and eating disorders. As a women-only facility, Casa Serena creates a supportive, healing environment that prioritizes individualized treatment plans designed to foster recovery and resilience. Located in a serene setting conducive to healing, Casa Serena combines evidence-based therapeutic practices with compassionate care to address the complex needs of its clients. The center’s commitment to creating a nurturing and respectful atmosphere ensures that women receive the best possible support on their journey to wellness. Employing a multidisciplinary team of experts, including mental health professionals, medical staff, and support personnel, Casa Serena supports recovery through integrated care tailored to each client's unique background and recovery goals.

The position of Weekend Chef at Casa Serena is a vital role that directly impacts the health and well-being of clients by providing nutritious, safe, and tailored meals throughout the weekend. This role is responsible for managing all weekend kitchen operations within the residential treatment setting, including preparation of breakfast, lunch, snacks, and dinner. The Weekend Chef not only ensures food is prepared according to strict nutritional guidelines and safety standards such as ServSafe, but also manages purchasing, inventory, and adherence to county health codes.

This position demands a creative, compassionate, and innovative individual who can work independently to meet the diverse dietary needs of clients while maintaining an impeccably clean and organized kitchen environment. The Weekend Chef will participate in menu planning that aligns with client dietary restrictions, religious preferences, and recovery-focused nutrition plans. Budget management is a critical component of this role, requiring careful oversight of grocery costs and efficient use of ingredients to uphold the facility’s standards without exceeding financial limits.

Additional responsibilities include running grocery shopping trips, conducting regular inventory checks to ensure staple items are replenished, maintaining food safety procedures such as proper storage, labeling, temperature monitoring, sanitation, and deep-cleaning kitchen areas. The Weekend Chef will also provide meals for special holidays and events, demonstrating flexibility and teamwork within the broader Casa Serena community.

Overall, the Weekend Chef at Casa Serena plays an essential role in contributing to a healing environment where nutrition supports recovery from complex behavioral health conditions. This position offers an opportunity for a skilled culinary professional to make a meaningful impact by providing quality, safe, and client-centered meals in a supportive residential treatment context.
