Job Description

Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano is a historic Roman Catholic church located in Southern California, renowned for its beautiful architecture and rich cultural heritage. Serving the community for many years, the Basilica not only offers spiritual services but also hosts significant celebrations and events, including weddings that reflect the sacred traditions and joyous spirit of the church. The Basilica is an active parish that values the importance of community involvement and upholding the religious values and mission of the Catholic Church. As a place of worship and celebration, it maintains a welcoming and respectful environment for parishioners and visitors alike.

The Wedding Coordinator position at Mission Basilica San Juan Capistrano is a part-time, non-exempt role under the supervision of the Executive Assistant to the Pastor. This position is vital in ensuring that each wedding ceremony and rehearsal held at the Basilica is executed flawlessly, allowing couples to experience a seamless and memorable day. The coordinator must possess exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently. Responsibilities include coordinating with various vendors such as florists, photographers, musicians, and officiating priests, managing timelines and logistics, and serving as the primary point of contact during wedding events. This role demands excellent communication and problem-solving abilities, especially since weddings often require handling unexpected changes or emergencies calmly and professionally. The Wedding Coordinator also plays a crucial role in enforcing the Basilica's rules and procedures to ensure that every event respects the church’s sacred environment.

Limited to approximately 4 to 8 hours a week, depending on the wedding schedule, this job offers an hourly wage in the range of $34.00 to $36.00. The part-time status provides flexibility but requires availability during evenings, weekends, and holidays as weddings commonly occur during these times. This position is perfect for individuals passionate about event coordination and hospitality, especially those with experience in wedding planning or related fields. It offers an enriching opportunity to be part of a meaningful community institution where attention to detail and dedication contribute to creating unforgettable moments for couples and their families. With a focus on strong customer service, the coordinator will interact with parishioners, guests, volunteers, and coworkers, making interpersonal skills and bilingual capabilities in Spanish and English highly valuable.
