Job Description

Known for its comprehensive and personalized approach to wedding design, coordination, and planning services, Leigh & Co. Events focuses on creating unforgettable experiences for engaged couples as they embark on one of the most important days of their lives. With a reputation for excellence and attention to detail, this company dedicates itself to providing top-tier services that ensure every wedding is perfectly executed according to the unique vision of the couple. Its nationwide presence and strong client-centered philosophy make it a standout choice for both clients and wedding planners looking to grow professionally in the wedding industry.

The Lead Wedding Coordinator position at Leigh & Co. Events is an exciting contract role designed for motivated individuals passionate about wedding planning. Based in Washington, DC, this position offers flexible scheduling, allowing coordinators to select their own hours to suit their lifestyle and availability. The role is project-based, with a pay rate of $350 per wedding, which typically requires 10-12 hours of commitment from initial vendor arrival to the event's conclusion. This opportunity is ideal for those desiring a blend of independence and team collaboration in a dynamic wedding environment. As part of the 2026 wedding season and beyond, new coordinators will receive dedicated training to ensure they excel in their responsibilities and deliver seamless event execution.

In this role, the Lead Wedding Coordinator functions as the primary planner onsite, entrusted with the comprehensive management of wedding day proceedings. Working closely with client experience managers and assistant coordinators, the lead planner oversees all aspects of the wedding day, from final detail confirmations to vendor coordination and guest management. Responsibilities include attending a final details call six weeks prior to the wedding to align on logistics, timelines, and expectations, as well as leading and facilitating the ceremony rehearsal to ensure all participants understand their roles and timing.

On the wedding day, the Lead Wedding Coordinator acts as the main advocate for the couple, maintaining a calm and solutions-focused approach while addressing any issues that may arise. Coordinators manage the setup of the ceremony and reception areas in accordance with the event's design and execution playbook, coordinate vendor arrivals and directions, and oversee the placement of all personal and event details like escort cards and décor elements. They provide support and timing cues to the wedding party and family, ensure that all end-of-event items are packed and accounted for, and proactively manage any last-minute changes to keep the event flowing smoothly.

This role requires someone who is not only detail-oriented but also possesses strong communication skills and the ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment. The ability to work weekends and manage physical tasks like lifting up to 30 lbs is essential. A minimum of two years experience in wedding or event planning is required to successfully handle the nuanced challenges of this lead coordination role. Candidates with a passion for event design and exceptional organizational skills will find this opportunity rewarding and a significant step forward in their wedding planning careers.
