Job Description
Watermark Baton Rouge is a distinctive hotel located in the heart of downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. As part of Marriott's prestigious Autograph Collection, this hotel provides guests with an experience that is truly like nothing else. The building itself is a historical landmark, originally constructed in 1927 as Baton Rouge's first skyscraper and initially serving as the headquarters for the Louisiana Trust & Savings Bank. With its eclectic architectural design carrying the influences of Art Deco and Greek Revival styles, Watermark Baton Rouge boasts a unique combination of historic charm and modern elegance. The hotel features stunning murals by celebrated New Orleans artist Angela Gregory, preserved carved marble walls, and grand staircases leading to the original bank vaults. Situated overlooking the Mississippi River, this hotel offers a blend of classic design elements from the 1920s through the 1960s alongside contemporary amenities and spaces, making it a memorable destination for both leisure and business travelers.
We are currently seeking a part-time Night Auditor to join our vibrant team. Reporting directly to the Front Office Manager, the Night Auditor plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth financial operation and guest service during overnight shifts. This position involves reconciling all hotel cashier transactions to maintain accurate financial records and compiling various management reports promptly. The Night Auditor's tasks include reviewing guest billings, verifying city ledger transactions, and effectively communicating any concerns or discrepancies to management. In addition to these auditing duties, the role also requires performing front desk responsibilities such as guest check-in and check-out, managing reservations, and operating the hotel switchboard.
The ideal candidate will embody a friendly, attentive, and service-oriented approach in all interactions with guests and colleagues, maintaining a professional and warm demeanor at every encounter. The role demands strict adherence to cash handling and credit policies, proficiency with the hotel front desk computer system, and a strong attention to detail when auditing financial reports and inputting data into the corporate communication network. Beyond day-to-day transactional accuracy, the Night Auditor monitors and reports any unusual operational or financial events to management to ensure the hotel's continued excellence in service and compliance.
Joining Watermark Baton Rouge means becoming part of a team that values excellent working conditions, competitive pay, and comprehensive benefits for eligible employees. Our benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, short-term and long-term disability coverage, a team member assistance plan, discounted room programs, paid holidays, vacation and sick time, and a 401(k) retirement savings plan. This role offers a chance to work in a setting rich with history and surrounded by the elegance and sophistication that our hotel proudly represents.
