Job Description
US Foods is a leading foodservice distributor in the United States with a rich heritage spanning over 120 years. They specialize in providing high-quality beef and pork products, expertly cut and portioned to meet the needs of a wide variety of culinary settings—from upscale white-linen restaurants to casual family dining spots. Known for their stringent meat-selection criteria, precise beef aging techniques, and expert trimming processes, US Foods prides itself on delivering superior quality products tailored to the specific requirements of their customers. Their extensive meat assortment offers options that balance quality, budget considerations, and pack sizes, ensuring that chefs and foodservice professionals get exactly what they need to craft memorable meals.
The General Warehouse Associate role at US Foods is a critical position within the company’s distribution operations. This full-time position works Monday through Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, focusing mainly on the selection, receiving, and palletizing of products. Associates are responsible for following strict USDA Safety and Sanitation Regulations and adhering to customer specifications. This job demands working in various temperature environments, such as refrigerated coolers between 35°F and 45°F, freezers ranging from -10°F to +10°F with provided apparel, as well as warmer warehouse conditions that can reach up to 95°F. Workers in this role must be physically capable of handling the rigors of constant standing and walking, frequent lifting and carrying of items weighing from 10 to 100 pounds, and operating material handling equipment like electric pallet jacks and forklifts.
In this role, General Warehouse Associates are tasked with picking and packing customer orders accurately according to specifications, scanning products to capture necessary data, and organizing, sorting, repacking, and palletizing different products to aid the production process efficiently. Additionally, they ship and receive products using the assigned equipment, carry out facility sanitation duties, and undertake various other responsibilities as directed by management. There is no direct supervision involved, but strong communication and professional interaction with employees, customers, and vendors across all responsibility levels are essential to maintain smooth workflow operations.
US Foods seeks candidates with a high school diploma or GED preferred, who have basic reading, writing, and math skills. Experience of at least six months in warehouse operations, ideally in a food environment, is highly desired. The ability to work overtime as needed is also important. Given the physical nature of the job, candidates must be able to handle frequent heavy lifting, work in cold conditions, and successfully operate warehouse machinery. The compensation for this role ranges approximately from $17.13 to $24.00 per hour, depending on experience and location, with overtime pay applicable as required. Benefits include health insurance, pre-tax spending accounts, retirement plans, paid time off, disability insurance, employee stock purchase plans, and life insurance. US Foods is committed to equal employment opportunities and embraces diversity and inclusion in their workforce.
