Job Description
Straub Distributing Co. is a well-established and highly respected beer wholesaler located in Orange County, California. Founded in 1948, Straub Distributing has earned a prominent position as one of the largest beer wholesalers within the Anheuser Busch (Budweiser) network in the United States. The company takes great pride in delivering world-class service that complements their world-class beers, emphasizing professionalism and quality at every level of operation. Known for its commitment to excellence and teamwork, Straub Distributing constantly seeks to employ individuals who are proactive, take pride in their work, and thrive in a team-oriented environment. The company fosters a work culture that values fun alongside professionalism, creating a balanced atmosphere for its employees to succeed.
The current opportunity is for a Part-Time Graveyard Warehouse Worker position, offering the chance to join Straub’s dedicated team during the overnight shift. This role is unionized and focuses primarily on supporting warehouse operations by safely feeding beverage cases into warehouse machines and maintaining a clean working environment throughout the shift. This physically demanding job requires the capability to lift between 20 and 43 pounds frequently during the shift. Candidates may also be required to operate forklifts and perform various physically engaging tasks including standing, walking, climbing, balancing, and repetitive lifting.
The role operates primarily on the graveyard shift, with scheduled part-time hours typically ranging from 5 to 6 hours per shift, up to 4 days per week. There are additional shifts starting at 7 pm to midnight or from 12:30 am to 5:30 am, as well as 8-hour shifts available a few days per week with starting times varying. Compensation begins at $20.00 per hour and increases to $21.79 per hour after completing a 660-hour probationary period. This position serves as an entry point to full-time graveyard warehouse opportunities within the company.
Additional essential functions include working safely and efficiently in a highly physical environment, standing and moving for prolonged periods, climbing stairs and ladders, and repetitive use of both hands and arms in various motions. The ability to work at heights and handle up to 50 pounds repeatedly is also crucial. As a union job, employees are required to join the union and pay an initiation fee. Benefits include earned vacation and sick time, holiday pay, access to an on-site gym, and employee discounts; however, healthcare benefits are not offered. This position requires passing a pre-employment physical and drug test, as Straub Distributing maintains a strict zero-tolerance drug-free workplace policy.
Overall, this role provides a fantastic opportunity for individuals looking to work in a dynamic and well-regarded organization with long-standing industry ties. It offers competitive pay, a supportive environment, and potential for growth within a company that values quality, safety, and professionalism in the beverage distribution sector.
