In this vital role, you will contribute to the delivery of essential products by working in various warehouse areas, including Warehouse Bulk/Material Handling Equipment Operation, Warehouse Porter, Warehouse Replenishment, Warehouse Receiving/Putaway/Returns, Warehouse Returns, and Shipping. Your responsibilities may include operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, and electric pallet jacks to move products safely within the warehouse. You will also be involved in manually unloading trucks, organizing customer orders, and ensuring the accuracy of product handling and documentation. Safety is a top priority at Staples, and as a Warehouse Associate, you will be expected to embrace and enforce safe work practices consistently.
This role requires adaptability as you may be moved between different warehouse functions to meet business needs. The work environment involves seasonal temperature variations, and you must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting, pushing, or pulling merchandise weighing between 70 and 100 pounds. The position offers a competitive pay rate of $23.50 per hour, including a $1.00 per hour shift differential, along with the opportunity to receive a pair of work shoes after 60 days of employment. Job Requirements
- minimum three months related warehouse experience or equivalent training and education
- ability to pass a drug screen in accordance with legal regulations
- basic English language skills verbal and written
- ability to work additional overtime hours as required
- ability to work at heights up to 60 feet
- ability to lift, push, or pull weights between 70 and 100 pounds
- must wear safety composite shoes
- ability to stand and walk 100 percent of the time
- must be at least 18 years old
Job Qualifications
- material handling equipment operator certification or ability to obtain
- ability to follow safety procedures and ensure safe work practices
- effective communication skills both verbal and written
- ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and customers
- experience working in a warehouse environment preferred
- high school diploma or GED preferred
- prior experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks preferred
Job Duties
- operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move products safely within the warehouse
- perform general cleaning and basic maintenance duties inside and outside the facility
- confirm accuracy of product received and address discrepancies or damages
- manually unload trucks and palletize products
- match item quantities and descriptions on returned products to packing slips and tag appropriately
- organize, stack, and shrink-wrap customer orders on pallets
- load trucks manually while maintaining a safe and clean workspace
