The Warehouse Associate role at Staples is a critical position within the World Class Supply Chain Team. This role operates primarily from 5:00 am to 1:30 pm, Monday through Friday, and is designed to ensure the successful delivery of products to Staples customers by maintaining high standards of efficiency and safety within the warehouse environment. As a warehouse associate, you will be placed in one of several key areas, including Warehouse Bulk/Material Handling Equipment Operator, Warehouse Porter, Warehouse Replenishment, Warehouse Receiving/Putaway/Returns, Warehouse Returns, or Shipping. The position involves a variety of tasks such as operating material handling equipment like forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, and electric pallet jacks to safely move products up to 100 lbs. Additionally, duties include general cleaning and maintenance of the facility, verifying product accuracy, resolving discrepancies, manually unloading trucks, organizing and shrink-wrapping customer orders, and loading trucks.
The role requires adherence to strict safety protocols and the ability to work in a warehouse environment that experiences seasonal temperature changes. It offers full-time or part-time employment opportunities with a competitive hourly wage of $19.75. The position is highly dynamic, as associates may be shifted across different roles to meet business needs, and includes the potential for overtime based on workload demands. Job Requirements
- Ability to pass a drug screen to the extent legally permissible
- must wear safety composite shoes
- ability to walk and stand 100% of the time
- ability and willingness to keep work area clean
- ability to adopt and adhere to safety procedures quickly
- ability to work in seasonal temperature variations
- ability to be Material Handling Equipment Operator certified and safely operate necessary equipment
Job Qualifications
- Minimum three months related experience in a warehouse environment or equivalent combination of training, education, and experience
- basic English language skills including verbal and written communications
- ability to work additional hours beyond scheduled shift as needed
- ability to work at heights up to 60 feet
- ability to lift, push or pull merchandise weighing between 70 and 100 pounds
- must be at least 18 years old
- high school diploma or GED preferred
- prior experience operating warehouse equipment such as forklift, pallet jack, and cherry picker preferred
Job Duties
- Operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, or electric pallet jacks to move product within the warehouse while adhering to safety procedures
- performing general cleaning and basic maintenance duties both inside and outside the facility
- confirming accuracy of product and addressing discrepancies and damages
- manually unloading trucks and palletizing products
- organizing, stacking, and shrink-wrapping customer orders on pallets
- loading trucks manually and maintaining a safe and clean workspace
- ensuring safe work practices and embracing the company's safety culture
