The Warehouse Manager role based in Miami, FL, is a critical position within Herzog Transit Services, requiring an experienced professional to oversee and manage the warehouse operations effectively. This role involves ensuring the smooth flow of materials, maintaining inventory control, and coordinating shipping and receiving activities, all while prioritizing safety and security standards. The successful candidate will develop and implement procedures for inventory control, shipping, and receiving, maintain procurement and inventory records, and manage supplier relationships to optimize purchasing and delivery schedules. In addition to operational responsibilities, the Warehouse Manager will oversee the physical layout and maintenance of the warehouse, facilitate inventory counts, and ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations.

This position demands both leadership abilities and hands-on experience, as you will be supervising staff, coordinating maintenance schedules for shop equipment, and promoting a culture that aligns with Herzog's core values. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Five plus years’ experience in supervision
  • Five years purchasing/accounting experience
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and procurement and inventory related software systems
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to perform business errands using company vehicle
  • Good command of the English language, oral and written
  • Ability to interface with all departments professionally and maintain confidentiality
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures
  • Ability to negotiate vendor terms, pricing and delivery
  • Ability to operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other shop equipment
  • Ability to read parts manuals and schematics
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required

Job Qualifications

  • Ability to perform business errands using company vehicle
  • Must have good command of the English language, oral and written
  • Ability to interface well with all departments of the company in a highly professional manner, while maintaining the highest level of confidentiality
  • Thorough working knowledge of purchasing policies, processes and procedures
  • Complete knowledge of warehouse and inventory control policies and procedures
  • Extensive knowledge and ability to negotiate best vendor terms, pricing and delivery based on specific budget and schedule requirements
  • Ability to operate forklift, pallet jack, shop cranes, and other shop equipment as required
  • Ability to read parts manuals and schematics
  • Some mechanical inclination is preferred
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to others the steps in a process and the importance of following that process
  • Ability to work flexible hours when required

Job Duties

  • Perform all duties in conformance to appropriate safety and security standards
  • Develop procedures in the areas of shipping, receiving, inventory control, and ensure adherence to these procedures
  • Review material or service requisitions
  • Confer with suppliers to obtain product or service information such as price, availability, and delivery schedule
  • Select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items
  • Compare nomenclature, stock numbers, authorized substitutes, and other listed information with catalogs, manuals, parts lists, and similar references to verify accuracy of requisitions
  • Prepare and issue purchase orders, bid requests and change orders
  • Maintain procurement records such as materials or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, inventories, and all documents concerned with ordering receiving, storing, issuing and shipping materials, supplies, and equipment including purchase orders, packing slips, bills of lading, and receiving memos
  • Unload and unpack incoming shipments
  • Count, measure, or weigh articles to verify contents against bills of lading, packing slips, invoices or purchase orders
  • Examine incoming materials for conformance to specifications, defects and quality assurance
  • Identify, label, and stock incoming materials
  • Discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services with managers, users, vendors and others to determine source of trouble and take corrective action
  • Prepare receiving memos and enter inventory information into computer information system
  • Prepare and conduct periodic, special or perpetual inventory counts and enter into computer information system
  • Verify computer information computations against physical count of stock, investigate and report reasons for discrepancies, and adjust errors in computation or count
  • Plan layout of stockroom, warehouse, and other storage areas, considering turnover size, weight, and related factors of items stored
  • Responsible for maintaining, organizing, inspecting and cleaning material storage areas
  • Determine methods of materials, supplies, tools and parts storage, identification, and stock location considering temperature, humidity, height and weight limits, turnover, floor loading capacities, required space, security and safety
  • Store material in bins, on floor, or on shelves, according to identifying information such as style, size, or type of material
  • Compile inventory control records and information such as consumption rate and characteristics of items in storage to determine stock supply and levels and need for replenishment and maintain the determined stock levels
  • Coordinate, prepare, pack, load outgoing shipments and prepare and maintain documentation and records associated with shipping materials
  • Maintain a complete and up-to-date SDS Right-to-Know program in electronic and hard copy formats
  • Schedule shop equipment preventative maintenance, service and repair and maintain service records
  • Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog's culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position
  • Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position
  • Other duties as assigned
