Job Description
Staples is a leading office supply retailer and e-commerce company with a global presence, known for providing essential products and services to businesses, schools, and consumers. With a commitment to innovation and customer satisfaction, Staples has built a world-class supply chain network to efficiently deliver products to its customers. As a part of this commitment, Staples employs a team of dedicated warehouse associates who play a crucial role in the supply chain by ensuring that products are received, handled, stored, and shipped accurately and safely. The company's focus on safety, inclusivity, and employee development creates a supportive work environment where associates can thrive and contribute meaningfully to the company's success. Staples offers both full-time and part-time positions, with competitive pay rates and a comprehensive benefits package that supports the well-being and growth of its employees.
The role of a Warehouse Associate at Staples requires versatility and adaptability, as associates may be assigned to different areas within the warehouse based on business needs. These areas include Warehouse Bulk/Material Handling Equipment Operator, Warehouse Porter, Warehouse Replenishment, Warehouse Receiving/Putaway/Returns, Warehouse Returns, and Shipping. Warehouse Associates are responsible for operating material handling equipment such as forklifts, cherry pickers, turrets, and electric pallet jacks to move products weighing up to 100 pounds safely within the warehouse. They also perform various manual tasks, including unloading trucks, stacking and shrink-wrapping customer orders, maintaining cleanliness, and verifying product accuracy.
Safety is a top priority in this role, with an emphasis on adopting safe work practices and embracing Staples' safety culture. Associates must be able to work in a warehouse environment that experiences seasonal temperature variations and be willing to maintain a clean and organized workspace. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and customers are essential for resolving issues and ensuring smooth operations.
The position requires a minimum of three months of related warehouse experience or an equivalent combination of training, education, and experience. Associates must be able to pass a drug screen, demonstrate basic English language skills, and be physically capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling merchandise weighing between 70 and 100 pounds. Additionally, associates must be at least 18 years old and able to work at heights up to 60 feet if necessary. Full-time associates should be willing to work additional hours, including overtime, depending on business demands. Staples values inclusivity and promotes an inclusive culture with associate-led Business Resource Groups, fostering a sense of belonging among employees.
Staples offers a competitive pay rate of $24.00 per hour, which includes a $2.00 per hour shift differential for overnight shifts. Associates receive a pair of work shoes after 60 days of employment, and full-time associates have access to numerous benefits, including paid time off, holiday schedules, company match 401(k), wellness programs, and employee discounts. Staples is committed to equal employment opportunities, ensuring that all qualified applicants are considered fairly without regard to protected characteristics.
Joining Staples as a Warehouse Associate means becoming an essential part of a world-class supply chain team dedicated to delivering high-quality service to customers. The role offers opportunities to develop valuable skills in material handling, warehouse operations, and teamwork within a supportive and safe environment. By contributing to the efficient flow of products, associates help Staples maintain its reputation as a reliable and customer-centric organization, supporting businesses and communities across the globe.
