Job Description

Petco is a leading pet specialty retailer working to enhance the lives of pets and their owners across the United States, Mexico, and Puerto Rico. With over 1,500 stores, more than 29,000 dedicated team members, and 250 plus Vetco Total Care hospitals, Petco has established itself as a trusted name for quality pet products, services, and veterinary care. Petco’s commitment to animal welfare runs deep, demonstrated by founding Petco Love in 1999, through which they have helped find homes for approximately 7 million animals in partnership with local animal welfare organizations. The company prioritizes a culture grounded in core values such as putting pets first, fostering fun and bonding within the pet community, and committing to teamwork and authenticity. Petco is more than a business; it’s a community where pet people and their furry companions feel welcomed and supported in living their best lives together.

This opening is for a full-time Distribution Center Leadership role located at the Petco distribution center at 9050 Red Rock Road, Reno, NV. The role is pivotal in managing the operations of one of Petco’s key distribution centers, which supports inventory control, logistics, and overall supply chain efficiency to ensure stores and veterinary hospitals have access to the products and supplies they need on time. The Distribution Center Manager will supervise multiple subordinate exempt-level supervisors and indirectly manage all distribution center employees. This position demands strong leadership capabilities, including interviewing, hiring, training, delegating, performance management, disciplinary actions, and potential terminations when necessary. The candidate will independently prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks, analyze data for strategic decision-making, and ensure all operations align with Petco’s mission to serve pets and their parents with excellence.

Working primarily within the distribution center environment, the role requires adaptability to conditions that may include exposure to heat, cold, dust, and noise. Occasionally, warehouse conditions present additional physical risks, hence a focus on workplace safety through proper procedures is critical. To succeed, candidates need at least 10 years of experience in distribution center or warehouse management demonstrating strong knowledge of scheduling, budgeting, accounting, and inventory control. Minimum educational requirements include two years of college or equivalent experience, with a preferred bachelor’s degree in business, management, or logistics. This role offers a dynamic career in a company known for its comprehensive benefits, employee support, and meaningful contribution to pet wellness. Petco encourages inclusivity and equal opportunity, supporting diversity across all levels of employment. The company provides competitive total rewards including health and financial benefits, 401K plans, incentives, and paid time off. Join Petco to make a positive impact in a fulfilling leadership capacity, ensuring operational excellence in the supply chain that keeps pets and people connected and cared for.
